huge tranny leak
well me and some buddies were goin to a local drag strip tonight. we just left got a half mile down the road and i notice out of the back of my car that a ton of smoke is coming out of it. so i hurry and pull into a gas station parking lot and po the hood
we look and dont see anything but we smell some type of fluid buring. come to notice a huge as puddle of it formed in a matter of minutes of us stopping. it was leaking, well practically pissing tranny fluid right under the front fender in front of the tire.
i was just wondering if that is a hose that came loose or is it something else. b/c that spot does seem like it would be the tranny being blown... would it?
oh ya and when we were driving it into the lot after i noticed the smoke, the tranny did shift fine into 2nd and 3rd gear. the drivability seemed the same but i would just like to hear other opinions or thoughts on this.
is it just a hose o is sumthin broke?
thanks for the help

Im not familiar with LS1 powered cars, but I know on the 5.3L trucks it is relatively common with a body lift for the tranny cooler lines to rupture and cause exactly as you describe. If the vehicle is running it is developing pressure which fuels the massive leak you may be experiencing. Just something to check out in the very least.

happened to me, one of the cooler hoses had come loose from the oem hard-lines because a hose clame came loose and the hose slipped off. thought i blew another tranny at first also.
