Default Can a TC install void a motor warranty?

It looks like somehow my rear main seal has let go after my TC install (ideas how?). Is this something that my extended warranty will cover or would GM void it when they see a green TC in there?

Your extended warranty might cover it unless they send out an adjuster, if he sees the converter........you are screwed. GM wouldn't touch it.

The warranty is through GM and is because I had some doubts about the ticking in my motor. The techs wouldn't complain about the TC and just do the repair?

Ex warranty companies can void your warranty for just about anything. i'de try to get it warrantied and if they say no, then cash that bitch in.

It all depends on the relationship you have with the
service tech & his manager. Odds are the adjuster
will not be there, the day the work is done. Playing
dumb is an option.

The converter, if it's badly balanced, can make enough
wobble at the rear of the crank to kick the seal off seat
every revolution and allow it to weep. If you feel a RPM-
dependent heavy vibration (maybe you got used to it)
in neutral, at spots, this is your probable cause.

very good point. at our dealership if you have a gm extevded warranty the don't send out an adjuster unless it is a very large amount of money. they usually just call it in. i really dought it will void it. just tell them that is how you bought the car and was not informed that it had an aftermarket converter. you can always stretch the truth we do it all the time. but be up front with the service manager as well. tell him it is in their but it was not the cause of the problem.

I am not feeling any vibrations, car runs great aside from a motor tick that they said was perfectly normal and extended my warranty because of.

So you're saying they won't void it as soon as I mention it? Or is the best chance just to have them open it up and if they say something, play stupid? I am not sure how much they'll believe me because it has long tubes on it now. Will they give me any problems because of the long tubes?

Play dumb. By mentioning it you are giving them an excuse not to cover it and then the burden of proof is on you to show that it was not the cause.

very well put, don't lie they know but be up front. yes the car has headers but that is not what caused the engine to tick.
