Default Torque Converter Help

HI i have a built up 4L60E with a valvebody and a TCI 3000 Stall and i have recently smoked the converter in the car with only about 1000 miles on it. I am pushing about 450-460hp at the crank and i guess would like a recommendation on a good converter that will hold up.

please explain your problem. What is the car doing/How do you know you toasted the converter? I just have to ask since you dont have many posts nor do you list any mods you have on the car.. You also say it has a valvebody,, every trans has a valvebody, do you mean it has a shift kit?

I think I've tried almost every major brand out there over the last 35 years. The Vigilante converters by Precision Industries are the best I've found. It's one of the very few brands I haven't been able to tear up. I've been running the same Vig 3200 for the last three years with zero problems. It still lets my pig heavy street car cut 1.5 60' times and run 6.7s in the 1/8th all day long. They cost more but you get what you pay for. Several of our sponsors sell them.

I have been a distributor for Precision Industries since 1998, and have had no "major" complaints on their torque converters. About 3 years ago, I decided to add the Edge 9.5" torque converter line, as a lower price alternative to the Vig, and it has worked out quite well. Either units will do well from previous experiences.
