Question 3000 stall guys/gals come in!!!! Or others folks can help

Yes I did a search but almost everyone has a higher stall the 3000, I was going to have it put in but no tune for maybe a month, anyone run one this small without tunning and run into any problems??? I know the higher stalls need a tune asap but do these smallers ones need them asap??

I've had no tuning done after installing my 3000 stall - none was necessary.

I believe the Yank SS3200 will run okay without a stall. It is an exceptionally tight 3200 rpm converter. A tune would help firmness, and you may want to adjust shift points to suit your taste, but these are just things that would enhance your stock converter anyway. You'd love the Yank. The SS series is great for a daily driver....still pulls, at idle, in drive and reverse and explodes at WOT. The best of all worlds with the SS series, IMHO.

You will be fine on a stock tune. But you should get your shift points and TQ management removed when you can. It will make the driving exp a lot better

It will work but you may need to readjust WOT shiftpoints
(added slip MPH vs RPM) if you had tuned them up tight
to what the old converter would do, and the low speed
3rd gear lock/unlock in street driving can be annoying.

anything less that 3400 will be fine for a while, it's at that point the trans thinks it's slipping and trys to correct it.

Don't go smaller than 3500, you will regret it.

I've got a Yank 3500 with no tuning yet and the car runs and drives great. I know it will only get better with a tune, but it is very driveable as is.

Fuddle 3000 stll here with 2.73 gear's.
No tune and no problem's whatsoever.
But seriously, listen to those guy's that are saying to go with a bit higher stall, 3200-3500. I was trying to play it safe by going w/a smaller stall, and now wish i had gone bigger. Don't get me wrong, my stall was a HUGE improvement, but I can't help thinking I left a couple of 10th's on the table by not stepping up to a 3500.

^^ Well I already have the stall I also got it from Fuddle, my car prolly won't ever see the track, I just wanted to wake the car up a bit..John said that he could always restall it if i wanted as its still under warrenty, so if its too small i'll bump it up a little. Do you still need the nittos when your normally driving, or can i just put them on when i want to have some fun?

I have the TCI ST3000 After my install I Banged the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift so you may need something that can adj the shift points. I used my hypertech. It worked suprisingly well.

Just put the nittos on when you want to have some fun.. normal driving around will not require the nittos.

I'm starting to believe the tuning issues after a converter install are when its installed on a stock transmission (at least this is the trend i'm seeing). This tells me that either line pressure, lack of shift kit, or something to that effect are the culprits. I didn't do any tuning at all and my SS3600 does not come close to the rev limiter and shifts great with the transmission that went in at the same time. It is also vacuum modded which might make a difference.

We will actually bump the shift points up a tad rather than down, and up the idle speed (as most lightweight converters need).

No tuning here. It drives just fine, but there are a few things i'd like tweeked in the tuning, but it's nothing urgent in my book.

A friend just installed a Yank 3200, no tune, no problems. I couldn't help but notice it felt almost identical to my TCI 3000. Very nice DD converter and he loves it.

I wonder what the difference between the yank 3000 and the tci3000? quality? I was looking towards the yank for quality I'd go with the 3200 but thats 200 bucks more.

The Yank will have a billet cover and a stronger clutch. Probably worth $200 IMO. If you get the TCI, definitely run the Transgo shift kit to preserve clutch life. Well, I'd do it in either case but consider it mandatory with the TCI.
