thanks for your help performabuilt.
now i have another problem my new pump doesn't want to go down in the trans. The old bottom half will just drop right in the new one won't. any ideas why.

it makes it pass the first ring then it get between the two rings and stops. it sounds like metal to metal if you try to tap it in. i have looked at both pumps and i cant seem to find any differences between them.

Yay i got the pump in, i will be installing the trans tomorrow night. thanks for you help performabuilt i couldn't have done it without you.
