1/4 mile times with new converter
Last fall my 02 z28 a4 with a lid, ported t-body, lt headers, ory, catback, drag radials and tuning ran a best of 12.34@113mph 1.88 60ft., with several other passes in the mid to high 12.3's @112+mph. Over the winter I installed a Fuddle 3400 1.8 str converter and tuned. Was expecting to run 12.0's to 11.9's, but only managed to get a 12.31@110.3 with a 1.71 60ft. I am ok with the 60ft. time but dont know why I only picked up 3 1/100 in the 1/4.

Maybe it is weather related. What were the weather conditions during your best pass (12.34) and for your most recent pass?
The improved 60ft time shows the converter is doing its job.

The 12.34 pass temp. was around 50 degrees. The 12.31 pass it was prob. 60 degrees. dont know the DA of either day but it was prob. more humid this last time I went. Are 11.9's possible with this setup?

Have you done any weight reduction?

The 113mph trap was last year before the converter. Best this year was 110.3mph. Lost some mph due the higher stall, at least thats what im told. I have removed the front sway bar, ac compressor, spare tire and jack. When i ran the 12.34 I also had the pass. and rear seats out. the 12.31 the seats were in the car. Didnt seem like they weighed that much anyway.

It doesnt spin at all. I am stalling it up to almost 2000rpm when I launch. Would flashing the the converter from idle give me a better 60ft? It also still has the stock cam, but im considering a tr224 114lsa. Would this work well with the converter im running?

if the weather is cause of me going slower, how is it my 60ft. time is almost .2 quicker but 1/4 mile is the same as last year? does the weather not affect it right off the line but hurts it further on down the track

i'd say weather wouldn't affect 60ft so much as it would the rest of the run, but with a 1.8 str your car shouldn't lose too much on the top end, i cant really compare because without a 3rd gear i dont have much past the 1/8th, but atleast you arent cutting 1.7s on street tires and only trapping 99 like me lol...

I'd say weather...but looking at your previous time...how the hell did you manage a 12.3 without a converter? At 113mph?
Were you going downhill?

Then once you get the 4 factors:
-Track Elevation
-Ambient Air Temperature
-Dewpoint Temperature
-The altitude above sea level of the track (altimeter setting/pressure in Hg)
Input them into the calculator

everything that i have seen from a fuddle shows a decrease in mph...would like to see your da comparisions though to possibly clear this last statement up...

i gained appx. 3mph with my 3500rpm 1.7str fuddle, i had a mail order tuned ls6 cam + bolt on car with stock manifolds, went from around 107mph to 110mph.
but something does seem off losing that much MPH, i got my converter with the 1.7 str rating so i could launch easier with nittos and gain efficiency (usable horse power and top end)
