Default Too much stall???

I just installed a Vigilante 3200-3400 stall converter with a new, somewhat built up tranny w/ shift kit and 2.73 rear gears (until I find a deal on the 3.73's) Would too much stall with the 2.73 gears cause my tranny to not lock up on the interstate? Is also normal to go from nearly 20 mpg around town to 11 mpg?? I hope the 3.73's help fix this....

can any tranny shop do this, or do I need a LS1 pro? the converter locks up rarely on the interstate, but then comes unlocked and my car will rev anywhere from 2000 to 3500 RPM to maintain 72 MPH. would the tune fix this?

I'm in Fayetteville, Arkansas. There's not a decent, reputable speed shop within 200 miles of me. its pitiful. can a tranny shop do the tune?

I had a 94 Z28 with 2.73's with a 2800 stall, and loved it. locked up everytime. but I did a whole rearend swap out of a 98 ss, it had 3.42's and I hardly notice it anymore... Yes 3.73 will help and yes you need a tune... It wont seem as big anymore but it will feel tighter.
That is 3400-3600 and 3.73 is a nice combo...

You probably have misfire detects from the lightweight
converter. It needs the PCM tuned. Lockup functioning
will help out your mileage on the highway, but sportin'
around town you're gonna pay to play. Gears will not
be a help for either, only greater amusement value.

Mail order may be your way to go.
