What Converter Stall?
I have a 2002 LS1 with a cam going in, and 243 heads with patriot dual gold springs.
I have been told anywhere from 3200 to 3600
Thunder Racing reccomended a 35-3600 Vig, It will be street driven, not daily but everyweekend and probably every other night...
4l60e
cam is TR224/230/112
243 LS6 heads w/ patriot dual gold springs
Long Tubes
Cutouts
also with all this what Rwhp should I expect...
Thanks,
Jon

It helps to know gear ratio, weight & HP. You will most on here with a 3600 and above. A Vig is usually rated about 400 low so a 3600 Vig is really about a 4000. I went with a Yank SS3600 personally. All I can tell you about your HP question is it will go down because it is less efficient than a stock converter. It will make your ET faster though because it keeps your revs spinning in the meat of your powerband getting you down the track faster. Some guys have picked up as much as .5 from a stall only.

I belive weight is around 3350lbs, as far as horsepower goes I have no idea, I have not installed it yet... I am just buying all the parts necessary to drop it in right now.
I believe the gears are the stock posi .273s right now, I want to put in .373s tho,
Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm guessing around 400rwhp with a good tune, does that sound too high for a 224/230 112 in an 02' LS1 with 03 Z06 (243) heads on it with the patriot dual gold springs, with Longtubes, LS6 intake (stock on 02) just say with 373 GR, and a 3600 stall?

Ideally, You want to match the converter to you cam's powerband. Your stall speed should be at the torque peak. At least that's what I was always told. You can see how all the LS1 guys recommend big converters, even without a cam on the stock motor. I think a stock LS1 has a tq peak at 4000rpm, though it's more of a slight bump on a flat line than a peak to a "curve", hehe.

Just talked to Jack @ Precision Industries and he recommends no more than a Vig 3200 for street use, he told me for my set up that one would work awesome, so I think I am going to go with that!
He said it will be pretty tight, I am going to be running 3.73's and a stock 4l60e

Everyone tells me to go higher than vig 3200...
But Jack @ Precision Industries told me a 3200 is the most he would do for street driving...
Also I am putting this into a 1991 Camaro Vert, which originally had 170hp...
I am putting a LS1 with a 224/230/112LSA Cam with 610/605 lift, 243 heads with patriot dual gold springs, Push Rods, LS2 Chain, TSP Ported oil pump, LS6 Intake, 4l60e, and a posi 10 bolt. And Either a vig 3200 or vig 3600.
I know either way I am going to be pleased with my new power, I will definatly double the horsepower.
I just want a converter that is mostly for the street.
Thunder Racing recommended the vig 35-3600, but the maker of the torque converter recommended a vig 3200...
So I am kind of torn between the two... this will not be my main transportation, but I will drive it a lot.
Would you say vig 3600 or vig 3200,(just trying to get as many opinions as possible)
Thanks!
