Default TTop Camaro at SEMA

http://www.leftlanenews.com/the-t-to...g-to-sema.html

Would there be any reason GM could not do this?

More weight, less rigidity, and doesn't look too hot IMO.
I'm sure they could do it, but I won't care if they do.

IMO... T-tops should be glass, not metal.

T-tops don't really fit the body line of this car. It just doesn't look right on this bulky of a car. It makes me think of what it would look like if they put T-tops on a Charger.

Thanks for the post. I like the way it looks. My favorite camaro is 93-97 and t-tops is a must but I would purchase a 5th gen if it had t-tops. If they never make t-tops on 5th gen I would never purchase one.

I agree they need to be glass and would like to see pics where they were glass.

Your not losing rigidity (if so a minute amount). I can't see this weighing more, because they are not going to need to add rigidity to it.

Horribly dated look imo. It is true a great % of Camaros were ordered with t tops but talking to owners hardly met a soul that took them off more than a couple of times a year. If they even have it as an option I hope they are lexan due to an already piggy car.

Because it's pointless? Adds weight? Looks terrible?

Yeah, there's reasons GM didn't do it.

For $6000+, there's no way I'd do this to my Gen 5.

I didn't think I'd like it, but those pics changed my mind. The cut lines match the car well, and I kinda dig the fact that they are body color and somewhat invisible when not removed. You get hardtop looks combined with the possible open air use.

That is what I was getting at, are their safety regs that would stop this.

I was unaware our 4th gens had extra weight underneath to add rigidity.

4th gen t-top cars don't have additional bracing (compared to hardtops). Safety standards have changed a lot since 4th gens were produced though. Without those A-B pillar frame rails, the chassis rigidity is compromised. However, since they are making a convertible 5th gen model, the t-top should be feasible from a safety standpoint even if additional bracing is needed.

Also, for what it's worth, I believe 4th gen t-top cars were only 12lb heavier than the hardtop model.

I don't think it looks bad. I also like the fact they are color matched.

I could take it or leave it. Agree w/the "in glass t-top statement, it makes sense." The wheels are awful though.
