Default C7 Corvette vs. The World

Lap times for the lazy:

SRT Viper - 01:23.9
Corvette Stingray - 01:24.6
Nissan GT-R - 01:25.2
Porsche 911 Carrera S - 01:25.6
Porsche Cayman S - 01:27.0
Shelby GT500 - 01:27.3
BMW M3 Coupe - 01:29.0

Very impressive considering this is only the base model at this point.

Woah, that's fast I'm even more surprised at the fact that the Viper and Stingray out ran the GT-R. Who says America doesn't make fast track cars?

in all fairness the video clearly said the gtr was down on power from the heat and would've been faster with cooler temps.

That said, that is why the Viper is still naturally aspirated, at least according to the SRT engineers.

While FI cars are notoriously fast, theres something about raw NA instant revving madness I just love.

In all fairness, I think it's been quite a while since anybody said that.

You obviously don't spend much time on other site, which in my few months even the lowest member have an appreciation of all cars. People still talk a ton of **** on american cars, while it's mostly the uneducated masses of youtube and social media, it still happens.

I've been on lots of sites over the past decade. Anybody that isn't a moron knows that America has produced quite a few good overall performers ever since the Viper GTS/C5 days.

Edmonds did a great job with the Comparo. Really excited to see what line-up GM comes out with in regards to the Vette. The Z06, ZR1, GS??

Right on the money. Have any of you read the comments on pictures posted by Car Memes on Facebook? It will literally make your head explode. "...until you have to turn", "ZOMG hp/liter", followed by the inevitable Supra or Skyline circle jerk. You know it's a big deal when Modular and LS guys have each others backs to fend off the people touting motors with names derived from a spoonful of alphabet soup.

That's one of the many places I was thinking of. The fast and furious page is just as bad.

Don't see what wasn't fair. All the other cars drove in the same temps.

Not really. The Viper and Corvette were driven first during the morning hours and out in Willow Springs that makes a huge difference. It gets hot out there quick.

if you had wanted the most accurate test possible you cant give an "edge" to any car and testing conditions need to stay constant. FI motors are way more susceptible to heat, and that GTR being run in the heat of the day was clearly killing power, same thing with the M3 and GT500.

Curious that the 350 hp Cayman outran the 662 GT-500. All of those ZL1/GT-500 threads would have you believe that corner speed was unimprotant and that the big horsepower would gobble it up down the straights.

The current M3 is an NA v8, next one gets the boost.

I'm assuming by that you mean d/a changes.......if so then you are completely wrong.

that and the blistering summer heat I would absolutely assume as well. I don't see how it wouldn't NOT negatively effect a fi car. obviously cooler temps are ideal for any motor, but adding the intercooler to help keep intake temps down may not work as good as it *should* when its 100*+ outside and maybe even humidity to match.

I could be very well dead *** wrong, but its a logical thought in my mind that say 65* is able to cool better for heat transfer for intercoolers than say 100*. Yes?

I didn't see anywhere in the vid where there was a 35* change. That would be a very large swing in a average day. Even so a fi engine will be affect by 1/2 as much as a n/a engine.

They don't call turbo's / blowers altitude compensators for nothing.
