Do you think it's true? I hope it's not a repost.

I'd say just hold out one more year and have a 20th anniversary edition and kill it with that. It's sad to see it go, but I'm gonna have ot be honest, it's time has come. It no longer get's attention in the media, nor much in the enthusiasts corner. On top of that, it's too expensive for what it is... I like the original price of the Viper, $40K!
Who knows, maybe in a decade or so, we'll get a new Viper that will get blood moving like it used to...
You've got to remember, the Viper was a Halo car, something meant to get people to go to Dodge dealerships. People don't go to Dodge Dealerships to see Vipers anymore....

I would have to agree. Why would they just go through a fresh redesign just to kill it? Maybe a few years down the line, I dont know. I doubt they make much money on it, if any, but they could have killed it a year or two ago. But it also wasnt Cerberus back then.

Well, Daimler Chyrsler already had outlayed the cash for the Viper program prior to Cerberus.
As far as I know, Cerberus had 0 intentions to continue the viper program. The program was written off as part of the transfer. Cerberus most likely didn't want the program to show up on it's expenses, so hence why it made sense Daimler-Chrysler funneled enough cash to it to have it continue for a bit longer; all the while knowing that the Viper was going to die because the equity firm (and true to private equity) was going after profitability, not lossability.
The viper program was already running, and it wasn't costing Cerberus anything to keep it operating while it's draining the programs reserve cash. So when it came to Cerberus picking up the check, they did the wise thing and passed.
So I can entirely believe that the Viper redesign was already paid and scheduled for prior to the deal. Thus axing the viper in time.

Perhaps it's too fast for the public. V-10 was an interesting engine for an American car. It made a different sound. It always cost too much........
Why not a Mazda Speed Miata? Around 24 sticker. They didin't sell at sticker. Had a little Turbo. Cornered like a go cart. Top went down for the wind in face thrill. That's closer to a sports car. But so often I remember too much. Remember the old cars from a few years back. Our hand built GM sports car in 1953, the Corvette. Straight 6, no brakes, didn't turn well, etc etc. How stupid not to have had someone buy one for me.
Manufacturers can't afford to build ANYTHING they can't make money on. I think the days of a car company building something because everyone else does it are over.
