Oil in the throttle body!

Oil in the throttle body! anyone in here ever have this? i just bought my v with 51k on the clock. everything seems good but i took the intake off to replace the belt and there was some oil at the bottom of the throttle blade.
someone please tell me that these weird little ETBs have some type of oil system for lubrication and i just need a new seal somewhere. it looks like there may be an oil line coming from the front of each cyl. head to the botton of the throttle body, what is it? i dont see any return lines if it is an oil feed.....
my first thought is that im getting blow-by and i need new pistons and rings. im going to pull the PCV hose off and cap it where it goes into the intake behind the ETB and rig up a filter on the PCV pipe. if this stops the oil (and i see oil on the pcv filter) then i guess i know ive got some problems....
any input would be cool

i would leak it down. usually when youve got oil coming up the intake your rings are shot or your putting holes in your pistons. probably your rings. you would know if you had holes in your pistons lol. but i have no idea about those hoses. i doubt anything takes lubrication but i could be wrong. never hurts to leak it down anyway

It is normal to have oil there. The crankase is vented from the passenger side to the TB. A lot of folks put a catch can on that side to stop the oil going to the TB. No worrys...

completely normal, I actually remove my intake tube to clean the throttle body of oil and grime every time I do an oil change and sometimes twice over the span of 2500 miles. I also seafoam deep creep the throttle body and intake manifold on a regular basis ~2500 miles too, and it keeps her running clean , mpg's stay consistent, and power is on par with the first day I got it. Everytime I seafoam deepcreep my car puffs a little smoke for 5 minutes, but the engine revs and feels so responsive after the cleaning.

thanks for the info guys, im gonna take a pic of it to show how much oil im talking about. im used to having absolutely no oil in my LT1 and also in my 07 tahoe with the 5.3.
can anyone else post some pics of their TBs?

I think this is what you need, it is a commonly used catch can in the gto's and should work in the v i would think granted you have the ls2. http://shop.billetprototypes.com/pro...3&productId=34

alright. here are some pics
here is a pic of the oil at the bottom of the blade
here is another pic with it open
i capped where my index finger is at and i ran the hose with a rag taped on the end over to the wiring harness. if i keep it this way i'll probably put a catch can on it.
why does the LS6 have the old PCV hose still on it like on my 5.3 tahoe? why is there two vents?
so now, what is this hose? from the tubes that T off of the front of each head...
and just for giggles, a pic down into the intake manifold.

.no ive got the LS6 (catch-can should still fit, right?), but i may just make an intake with the PCV vent hose routed before the TB. i think it may reduce the amount of oil since there wont be a big vacuum spike when the throttle blade closes. it seems to me that routing the PCV tube after the TB, the vacuum would actually be sucking oil out of the block....

SS thats exactly like my throttle body looks with oil.
seafoam can be found at most local auto parts stores....You need two cans of regular seafoam and a can of deep creep for the full treatment.
It really works. Most **** like that doesnt, this you can see working, then feel the difference immediately afterwards.

sweet, you make me feel a lot better. ive just never seen anything like that except when my neighbors supercharged ford f250 had oil all up in the airbox. i knew he needed his bottom end rebuilt.

Just connect the line on the left side, to the line on the right w/out the use of the TB... usually requires a little longer lines, and a connector.

did you just put a cap on the TB?
does the coolant go through the TB and then into the intake manifold?
Im not going to the the TB bypass, im just curious.

Why not do the bypass? It definetly did a lil something for me. You essentially make a bridge and connect the coolant lines (which are on either side of the TB) to one another.

ive only capped the TB on my turbo car because i creates vacuum... which throws off the turbo.
Its part of the PCV system... If you are going to remove the line, it needs to be capped (on the TB) because it would be unmetered air getting into your TB, your car would run like crap. Thats where your getting oil from probably. You could put a catch can on it... you just splice the line attach the can in the middle and your done, while keeping the 'stock' PCV system.
Or cap the TB and put a filter on the end of the line, it needs to stay open because it relieves pressure from the crank case. Thats how my turbo car is.
