thinking about supercharging my V
Hey guys, im new to this site so hopefully you can help me out. i have an 05 cts v which im thinking about supercharging. I have a friend who has an '09 cts v and is going to be upgrading his stock supercharger to something a little more beefy. So he will be giving me his stock unit. I'm wondering if this will be able to bolt right up or if i will run into issues where i may need to buy some adapter plates, or fittings, or if it is impossible.. The '09 V has a 6.2L LSA motor in it with an Eaton TVS 1.9L suupercharger, my engine is a bone stock 5.7L LS6. I realize i may need bigger fuel injectors a new intake and other things needed to support the added air and fuel but im just wondering if this is even a realistic swap. I haven't seen anything on the web about this so hopefully someone here has heard something or tried it.

I can't be of too much help, but if the supercharger utilizes a special intake manifold/heat exchanger special to that supercharger, I believe it has square port heads vs. your LS6 cathedral port heads. You would possibly need that entire top end, and I don't think that would work with your 3.898 bore. The compression ratio on those engines are 9.1:1 vs your IIRC, 10.4-10.5:1

No, the supercharger is NOT your intake. The SC bolts to a lower intake.
You'd have to see if that SC bolts up to an aftermarket lower (check some SC kit websites) for the cathedral ports.

The biggest problem, as stated above, is going to be fitment of the square-port supercharger assembly on the 5.7L cathedral-port heads. That's a tricky one. Two vendors that I know of (RLD performance and Mast Motorsports) can sell you a set of "small-bore" L92-style square-port heads... but they're big bucks ($2,500-$3,600).
I wish there was an easier alternative... the best idea I have is to buy a set of L92 heads and swap in new intake valve seats and smaller intake valves from an LS1. I don't know if that would actually work, but I wish someone would try it already so we could know for sure!

GOOD NEWS! My buddy will be replacing his entire top end, so i will have access to his stock heads. I'm wondering if his heads will bolt onto my block? If you say the LSA heads only fit on +4.00" bores, could i just bore my motor to the closest i could get? also as long as that works what would be a good choice of a cam to make some serious power that i could still drive to work and the grocery store with?

In any event, I would still take everything our buddy is willing to give you. That would be a nice chunk of change and you could build something nice with the money or you can throw a little money in on top of what he gives you to build something the heads and blower will work with.

That is a pretty stout top end. I would definitely hang on to it. You cannot bore your block to what is needed, it would have to be re-sleeved. You could build a budget iron block or some other aluminum LS block for the time being and once you get the shortblock built, you could throw this top end on it and have a killer setup.

Just ran across this. Not real news since this guy has an LS6. But if you got a set of those mast motorsports heads...
