Default Converting To A 4L80E Or TH400

Been doing some thinking about converting the car to auto talking to a guy on Facebook, who is installing a 4L80E in his car. How hard do you think it is to do the conversion over to auto? What else would i need to complete the swap? A TH400, would be ideal no programming bolt it up, what about the driveshaft??

Most 400s use a slip yoke unless you get a light truck "475" model that came with a fixed yoke...all you need is a vacuum source but you'll miss the OD

Id stick with the OD. Youll have to have some way to control it or get a Jakes manual controller http://shop.jakesperformance.com/Man...80E-JP-MCB.htm This will be cheapest way to control it. And youll have to beat the tunnel in 2 to 3 inches in on both sides of the tunnel. The 4L80 is freaking heavy too. But awesome.

Yeah i don't want to go beating the car up it is in very good shape and i would like to keep it that way. I like the 6spd just thought a high stall converter with a auto trans would be nice.

I'd say trade it up for a G8 GT if an auto is what you're looking for.

Don't see a reason to put a big fat auto in a V1 unless you're dedicated to making it go straight down the 1/4. Auto in a daily driver...I agree, look at the G8 or V2. MAYBE if you were going to go big output (1000+ wheel) turbo motor I could see the 4L80e, maybe...

i am on board with others. the 6spd makes the car what it is. unless its a dedicated drag car putting down serious power looking for a number or best ET leave it alone.

I t was just a thought i do not plan on making big numbers or taking the car down the 1/4 mile, this car was owned by a older man and i am the 2nd owner and the car was well taken care of. I think i will leave the car alone. Beseides i am in the process of building a 5.3 LM7 turbo for my 94 Z28. That car is already auto i will have the fun going down the 1/4 in her.
