Default Engine mount replacement

I've been feeling a vibration through my steering wheel, but no pulling or shaking when braking. I feel like there is a decent amount of "movement" when I start my car.

I have an 05 with 66k and oem mounts. Would new mounts help? The stockers are in pretty bad shape. I don't have anywhere to install them myself, what would be a fair price for labor? I have headers on the car as well.

I believe book time is 4.5 hours for both mounts, I would expect to pay between $60 and $120 an hour if you take it to a shop. Less if you can find someone who does side work out of there garage.

Both mounts can be replaced in 3 hours on a lift with the stock manifolds. (Book quotes ~4.5 hours)

I've heard that doing the mounts with Headers may require removing 1 or 2 of the headers. I'd expect a dealer to charge you close to $500 for labor. Less if you can find a cheaper labor rate.

take it to someone. I just finished replacing Transmission, torque arm and motor mounts with poly in my driveway and it was no fun what-so-ever. I have plenty of mechanical ability and some say the patience of Job, but I was very frustrated at least twice to the point of needing to take a break. It will be my last time I do it with the engine installed. If you do tackle it, there is a lot of good help here on this site. I would recommend an engine lift or dropping the K-member.

I hear a lot about "frozen bolts" that are hard to access. Bolts in aluminum can be tricky....if you do this make sure to soak the bolts down with PB blaster before crawling under the car. I also suspect crappy tools aren't going to cut it if the going gets tough....looks pretty tight in there but I haven't done this yet.

I'm not gonna say it was easy to do myself but it wasn't that hard either. I made the mistake of installing headers first and then coming back to do my motor mounts. I highly recommend you do both at the same time if you think you're going to get headers later or if you're installing headers to go ahead and do motor mounts

I bought the car with headers installed and I've heard it's s bitch with them installed. That's why I'm thinking about just having them done somewhere.

Taking the headers off is a lot easier than doing the actual motor mounts. Wouldn't let that deter you from tackling the job. I took my headers off and thanked myself later.

Take the headers/manifolds off. It only takes a few minutes and will save you alot of time in the end

Some would rather skin their knuckles, swear up a storm and break bolts.

Problem is where I'm currently located, I don't have tools or an area that would be ideal to do it.
