Default Do I have to run a MSD 6010? Carb conversion question

First off im tired of the efi consistency bracket racing my 01 SS. The car is consistent in the heat, but soon as the weather drops I have to dial the car down almost 3 tenths!!

Do I have to run the 6010? Right now the car has a stock fuel setup and factory ls1 engine harness. Is there a reason why I couldn't just keep the factory coil harness and just not use the injectors? Or would my computer start doing some silly timing things? I was thinking I may have to keep my map. Also how do you guys tie AN braided hose for a carb setup/regulator? I'm guessing some adapter fittings on the fuel lines right before they turn into the rubber hose that mounts to the fuel rail? If so anyone have parts numbers.

Thanks for any help
Adam

I'm not aware of a way to use the factory Efi without using all of it.

The MSD has several features that work great for racing anyway, so it is a great choice for many.

MSD would probably be easier to tune for me. Im not that great with hp tuners. But I just thought it would be cool to keep that setup for adjusting timing and all the other nice features. Already have the msd 8733 on my Camaro with the trans brake so maybe Ill just throw a carb setup on and see what the factory pcm does. Maybe I can talk to the guys over on the pcm diagnostics or the fuel injection guys about locking in timing and deleting all 02s, ignoring iat and all that stuff. One thing im not looking forward to, is cutting the cowl and buying a 4 1/2 extended Sunoco... oh who am I kidding...

As long as you have everything set up in the tune, there is no reason that you can't bolt a carb on top if that's what you want to do.

You can run your factory computer with a carb. Just need the same hookups as the MSD 6010 box utilizes. I have this setup on my 55 and 62 wagon. Also made a harness for a friend in his 66 truck.
