98 Z28 build is moving along now
I purchased a 98 Z28 to build and things are now moving along, but I need help with one part and search isn't helping at all. Didn't find anything here or with google. Maybe I'm not wording things right. Today we pulled the LS1 and T56 and put in the new setup. 416ci LS3 with GM performance CNC LS3 head and a couple other upgrades from our normal 618HP 416ci motor. Stainless Hooker compition long tubes I had ceramic coated. Backed with a Quicktime bell, Mcleod RXT clutch and master, T56 Magnum and a yoke for 1350 U joint. I need a good drive shaft for up to 850HP with 1350 u joints to connnect the 12 bolt rear end up. What is a good quality shaft maker that isn't race team prices? I do motors constantly, but really don't work on cars ever, so I'm out of my element a bit. Here are some photos of the swap today. Lots of wiring left to do. Hoping to keep ABS and traction control using the Holley Dominator ECU.

Got my 1350 yoke on and measured for my driveshaft which I'll order this week from PST.
My other fuel line fittings will be in today, so I'll finish that tonight. Question. Next to the 3/8" hard fuel line feed I'm connecting tomorrow is a 5/16" hard line that I think was an emissions vent. Could this be used as a return line if or when I go to a return system? Should I vent or cap that for now?
Thanks.

Had a big long gap of nothing really going on, but it' coming along again.
First a few pictures from the motor build.
Morel street lifters, under CV label
416 LS3 short block
trying out Cloyes AZ chain because they said it is as strong as a double roller without the install trouble
cam installed
Melling pump and JE Pistons
LS9 gaskets
GM Performance CNC LS3 heads
.660 lift dual springs with tie retainers
Comp trunions
Got the electronic pedal installed now
PowerMaster 9509 starter with wrap. Converted the Alternator to single wire.
Checked out the Moser 12 bolt as it was in the car when I got it.
BMR crossmember with torque arm reloaction
BMR drive shaft loop
Added Moser cover, mostly for the drain and fill ports
New rear slotted rotors, pads, and parking brake shoes. Already put Willwood 6 piston brakes on the front. Also stainless hoses.
PST aluminum drive shaft installed
BMR watts link

Got the intake connected to the filter. I'm sure this filter will be a restriction and like the intake will so that will get upgraded later.
Opened up the firewall pass through and got a boot on it. This was a PITA
Holley Dominator EFI mounted on passenger floor with a hinge for easy access
Kooks under the passenger seats
Magnaflow in the back
Wrapped the gas tank to keep the heat out
Tom @ HarborTown Fabrication custom 3" true dual exhaust is no 2/3 done
Back in to make hangers tonight
Huge Walbro pump, something like 340 L/hr
The BMR parts and PST shaft about to go in

Nice build! & nice paint on your camaro, I wish my paint looked that good! My clear coat failed on both front fender tips, hood, mirrors, sail panel, my whole car needs repaint now.
I will be starting my build thread soon so this is awesome seeing your build as we have the same year camaro and color!

Don't have a lot more to show, but I've been wiring and have ran it few minutes. Power steering rack was leaking, so changed that with the motor. Then while waiting for exhaust the pump leaked, so I changed the lines out and it turned out to be the pump. Since it was making tons of noise also. I changed it and that blew up after running 3 times for maybe 2 minutes. New fluid was nice and grey. Got another one to go on tomorrow and hope to be done with this part for a long time. I'd get a turnone pump if I could swing the money, but can't right now.
Guess I left these out before.

So the new pump didn't finish the job. Looks like now the rack is plugged with pump guts. Luckily they are letting me swap out the rack at no cost even though I got it 14 weeks back. I changed the rack with the motor and at that time I didn't know about the driver bolt hitting the pan. So I cut it off and will be getting another bolt also tomorrow. This time it will go in upside down. After all of this I'm adding an inline filter to the system and hope to be done with power steering for quite some time. I only want work on this again when doing upgrades, like a turn one pump or aftermarket cooler.
This weekend I plan to get on the last of the wiring and programming. I need to swap to a return style fuel system, but I can make it this way well enough to go get an alignment and use their rack to set the watts link.
I'll also have a video of it running up soon. I never thought it could be this quiet even with 4 mufflers.

Happy now. I slapped the new rack on and fluid is flowing, so I flushed a quart of fresh fluid threw it and called it a good night. I'll grab a filter for it tomorrow. Finish wiring it this weekend. Then I need brake lights, set the watts link, and an alignment. I'll post a video this weekend.

Set my watts link, so it just needs fine tuning on the alignment rack next week.
Tail lights came in yesterday, so once bulbs show up tomorrow they will go on. Found my tag light is missing a bolt climbing under the back. Also turns out the light doesn't work, so I have to figrue that out.
Mounted 6.5" component speakers in the rear, just waiting on the some 2 pin MP150 connectors to hook them up with a quick disconnect.

Keeps taking longer, but I have not been able to put any solid time on it lately. Got some LT1 tail lights to replace the crap ones that I had to break to get to the light bulbs. Had to fix the wiring someone messed up and I think they used solder for copper water pipes to do it. I had to use a torch to get it off, so i just cut it out.
From busted crap lights that came with the car to stock LT1's. Such a huge improvement.
Today I put a little liquid electrical tape on the heat shrink. I'm trying to find a good place to buy good stuff with adhesive and not spend $500 getting an assortment of it. I also sat down for about an hour and tuned the ECUs control of the gas gauge in, but I'll have to go through a few tanks to program the sensor side of it. I also got the blinkers working again. Later I'll run it through the Dominator so I can control the pattern and speed even with all LED bulbs.
Tomorrow I'll get the oil pressure gauge wired up correct. Also plan to work on the tach and volt gauge. That would leave the speedometer to to test in the cluster.
Things I forgot about keep popping up. Like the 6.5" component speakers I had laying around and installed into the truck location. I ordered some 2 pin MP150 connectors to go inline as the factory parts are gone.
