Default AJE Mustang Kmember-A arm question

Does this look normal? The pics are without tightening the bolts. When I tightened them, it pulled the bushing from the cradle way out.

I'm clueless or the fit/finish of this thing is not so good. I haven't ruled out either or even both yet!

I have a QA1 K-member in my stang and there was a gap in each side when used with the stock control arms. Later I switched to the tubulars, but I don't see why you would have that problem when it's designed to work together. Personally, I will just install spacers evenly on each side and call it good.

I sent the pics to AJE, they responded pretty quickly.

Yes these pics are pretty normal. There is enough room for flex in the a-arm for you too tighten the bolts and draw the inner sleeves to the center of the k-member.

Did you have to do anything special to it? I'll tighten it all up & see how it looks.

Well you will end up bending the weak side point of the k member. The control arm point(bolt goes thru) is not going to extend to each side and make up for the difference in that gap. Like I said, the only thing that will give is the left side on the k member point going by the pic you posted. Just use more spacers like the one it came with IMO.

didnt do anything .. just bolted it up . as you tighten the bolts it pulled the red bushing thru the k-member that takes up the space ... if i knew this before i would have bought a different company's k-member

One thing I learned is that you can barely find aftermarket parts that fit like the OEM ones.

Mine was the exact same way. I just got some more of the washers to fill the gap up. I figure when I have everything on the car, the alignment shop can move the washers around if need be to get it lined up. I figured by now AJE would have fixed all the issues, guess not.

You mean regarding an LS conversion? Or just in general, Mustang K-members have issues?

My MM k-member fit like a glove. And all the associated hardware (coil-overs) fit like a glove. As a matter of fact, I cannot remember a single MM parts that didn't fit properly and I almost threw the whole catalog at my car.

I guess you get what you pay for.

With the Aje k member that space is too make up the differences in all the aftermarket control arms. That is way he supplies spacers to take up the difference. If you just tighten that down youll pull the mounting over and weaken it. Some aftermarket k member will only accept certain arms, and they dont tell you that.
