Default Which alternator would be best for my LQ4 into an s10

Hey guys, im doing a carbed LQ4 into a first gen s10. I am using the truck bracketry and do not have an alternator yet. What would be the best alternator for wiring up in the s10? I do have a sbc style one wire alternator but it doesnt look like it will fit the truck bracketry. In the end it would need to fit the truck bracketry. Thanks fellas.

Use the stock S10 V6 one from I think its 96 and newer, it might be 98 and newer. It fits on the truck brackets and is smaller in diameter then the truck one, so it gives you more hood clearance

Could i use the stock serpentine belt with this alternator? Would the dimensions be the same in the end? Like pulley location?

The pulley is located at corect depth so it will line up, but it will be closer to the block, so you'll need a shorter belt. Most likely you'll be running an Econoline pulley to get more clearance by the steering box, so you'd need a new belt anyway, since that pulley is also smaller

Look at a pulley from around an 88 to 93 ford Econoline van They're smaller and have the same shaft size. Some of the 3.1 FWD pulleys will work, but you have to press them further on the shaft. I don't like those pulleys because they're plastic, the ford pulley is metal
