They are fairly light for what they are. Lighter than newer gen GM trucks.
I should make mine a mid engine. with a corvette transaxle :p

Hate to dig this thread up from the dead but this truck is awesome. You get great fuel economy. Someone had mentioned in the thread why not do a Cummins swap. I have a 91.5 VE pump cummins I used for a 55 Chevy cab swap. It has 37" tires with heavy steel wheels and the best I have gotten is 21 mpg. I think you made the right decision with the LS1. It is a quiet smooth running engine. The Cummins is a loud engine and it shakes and rattles as you know. I think it is hilarious what the guys at RCC said.
I have a couple of questions for you.
You were running 14.0 and then you finally broke into the low 13s. I must have read over it but how did you get the times down. I thought I read where you did a 75 shot to get it to 12.5.
You said you were getting 18 mpg on the highway and 10 mpg in town. I'm guessing that is from a high stall converter?
How hard was the gauge cluster swap?
Again awesome truck.

I can't believe I didn't see this until just a few days ago when the video of you (OP) and the LSx ****** was posted. I read through the entire thread, and all I can say is it's the coolest, most unique, LSx swap I've seen. Being from Missouri, are you going to head over to KC in May for the KC2K14 event?

stock bolt-on ls1 stock 4l60e 14.05 @ 94mph
added sstb3600 stall and ls6 intake 13.4 @ 96 mph
added 75 plate shot 12.9 @ 105
added 125 jet 12.5 @ 107
added 150 shot 12.1 @ 108 mph
added LS2 and drag radials 11.77 @ 111 1.63 60'
It can still get high 18-19 on the highway at 55-65 mph, in town it fallls with the converter, but with tuning I'm still in the 9-12 mpg range depending on how much stop-go there is

"Seriously? go get your car , I didn't come all this way(12miles) to race your truck".
Not gonna lie, that kinda offended me since I have helped him with the Jeep in the past and he knows all about the Ram and how much work I put into it...I simply replied...
"Are you afraid of the Ram?"
He tilted his head back like Parris Hilton and closed his eye ..said"NO".... then I said "Lets do this.
Right before I got in my truck he asked if I wanted him to spray...I said "Do you need it?" He again, Paris Hilton head tilt...."No"
here is the results of his overconfidence
