78 Datsun 280z-------------> 5.3 Build

Thanks! Yeah, not sure how I only saw the tail end of this thread at first but I've now read the whole thing. I'm also a member of long standing on HybridZ but not been active of late.
I spoke to TTT about their kit and I swear they said no parking brakes, pretty sure Zgad said the same thing so I skipped their setup. Looking at the issues with CVs and axles I'm starting to question the direction I'm going but I've already got the larger billet stubs\flanges same as you had and some Mustang rear brakes for the rear plus an R230 diff being built already so I'm kind of committed Sadly I don't have your welding skills either but I suspect I'll be doing some learning soon! Have you been able to solve all of the bending issues with your setup now?
Was it the NA R230 inputs you snapped? Hoping for a ray of sunshine since I'll be using TT
I too have had pinholes show up in my fuel tank, not comforting. Mine is simply sumped at the rear so an external pump might work but I would really prefer an internal. What did you do for a vent? Whenever I ran an open vent on mine the whole garage filled with fumes and sealing it is also a no-go for obvious reasons lol.
Pondering rewiring my car too and I really like the job you did on the engine bay. While my drivetrain is out I may have to ponder doing some work in there as well, your's came out very nice!
Good stuff and lots of pictures which is helpful. This car won't get an LSx but I'm lurking here a good bit trying to decide on what I'll do next and that will almost certainly be LS based

For the T3 stuff, you just use e brakes from a Z32 - I promise. Thats whats on my car. Check the thread for specifics.
I was snapping R200 inputs. Never upgraded to anything until this 8.8 stuff. My vent is from the tank to the filler neck. It still holds some pressure though in extreme temp swings.
I recommend re-wiring for sure. I mostly just tucked and trimmed. The old wires are a PITA to solder. I had to scuff each one with emery cloth first. I plan on changing them in the future.

Well that was a awesome read, subscribed. Awesome build. Going to be doing a 5.3l turbo conversion on a 280zx 2+2 soon, just waiting on engine to arrive from the U.S, i'm in New Zealand.
As for the name, I originally intended to get a 4.8 but got a 5.3 in the end haha.

I wish I would have this year! I was at the ICC, but I couldn't take my drag setup off the car due to broken studs from bad lugs, so I didn't go on the cruise.
Well you'll like the next chapter of this build then.

You'll be looking at upwards 5k for a clean complete car, "without rust" . They all have rust, its just how much. They're a LOT more common in California, but hard to find here in the midwest. Rollers.... 1-4? really depends on who has it and how bad they want to get rid of it!

If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost you to put the 8.8 diff in. I'm building a ls1 in my 1978 280z right now and I was going to put a r200 lsd in it but there just to hard to find.
