From the lug pattern I am seeing, you have a 4 on 114.3 (4 on 4.5" converted). Is that correct? I would choose these:

You're right, but personally I hate draglites. Always have. They work on mustangs and third gens, but not really diggin it on these cars. Plus, shank lug nuts are a huge PITA with the floating centers on those wheels.

I just bought a pair of these:

They are Rota Shakotans. They arent as expensive, they fit the car better, and they only weigh 15.9# - ~1-2# more than the draglites.

Also, I went ahead and ordered a pair of 26 x 8.5 x 15 MT ET drag slicks, scheduled to be here in a couple days. I'll report back with mounted pictures.

Very nice ride, I have the same rims you have up front on all four corners of my 240Z. It is awaiting a LS swap too. It runs like a beast with a carbed first gen motor but I want fuel economy, a/c and a 9 second time slip to boot!

I imagine with a well prepped track it has a bit more in it.

Update:

New PR at the track. 7.06 @ time slip printer broke

Here's the 7.08 prior to the 7.06.

Right after the 7.06, I got back in line, and go the two step working. Set it at 4500, and POP goes the axle on the launch.

I'm not sure what the next step is.... 8.8 IRS?

Anyhow, I pulled the axle and drove the car home 1.5 hours. Do that with your solid axle !! lol

Here's the video 1320 put together from the track 2 weeks ago...

Nice video. Are you preloading the before you launch or just popping the clutch? That might help with the axle breakage.

Not "popping" the clutch.

I'm not going to change how I drive it though, because what's the point in that?

I'm likely going to do a ford 8.8 IRS swap. I'm sick of nissan diffs and the lack of gear selection and LSD selection

Little update.

I replaced the stub that broke, and took it to the strip again this weekend. I only managed one pass before the same side stub broke again.

The car did go the best 60' its ever been though, and ALMOST got into the tens. No doubt it has it in it, but just won't happen this year.

11.009 @ 125.7 with a 1.57 60'

carnage

and I'm for sure swapping to an 8.8 IRS now. I'm gathering parts, hopefully get it done in the next month or so.

Awesome on the run, too bad for the broken parts! You should open a shop that strictly works on 280z rears as you have the most experience of anyone I know. Man I know it is getting old tearing it down all of the time. Whats weird to me is the fact the stubs appear to be the same diameter as what I run in the straight axle and you would think the CV would be the weak link. Are you leaning on inferior parts or do you think something else might be the culprit?

Lol Yeah, I've gotten pretty good at it. I can tear a CV down in about 5 minutes, and it took me 30 minutes to get the diff out and on the bench... I timed it. The CV's are pretty tough, and quite beefy. The stub is definitely just the weak link in the drivetrain. I have a plan for something a lot more substantial... stay tuned.

Tiny update:

I picked up a complete 04 Cobra Diff last night for pretty cheap, with only 55k on it.

I'm going to wash it today, and start parting it out and making my money back! Hopefully I'll be able to recoup most of what I spent, and keep the pumpkin.

The face plated trans was already sold before i towed it home, it was a stock GTO trans in the car. the wing is a original IMCA collectors item from the 70s its not big at all just a 3 piece spoiler style. never installed gay seats , they are acura GSR leather seats. never tubbed it out, the strut towers were removed and boxed in. straight axles and auto yes , as for breaking anything after all that it hasnt broke once since and has probably around 300 track passes and thousands of miles on the street. its daily driven , 28 MPG average and runs 8.80s in street trim on pump gas. not sure who gave you all that wrong info figured id set it all straight for yah. here is a video of it last saturday setting a national record.
