Have you thought about. Adding a sway bar on the front? I'm going to get those same control arms and was considering it.

HexenLord - I have a full Hotchkis TVS system which includes Springs and Sway bars for both Front and Rear of the Nova.

The POL A-Arm bolted up without any problems as did the Hotchkis system. The only thing I didn't like was the slug on the A-Arm Cross bolt.. they are aluminum and I crushed/broke two of them when I over tighten them. I talked about his in the thread a while ago.. I now used washers between them and the nut to spread out the load.

Default Latest Updates

Haven't updated the thread in a while. Have been busy trying to find a Mis-fire with the Chevelle.

I have been doing small things on the Nova, Went to the GoodGuys in Pleasant and did a few laps on the Auto-X and had the Engine Dyno Tuned by Mark Romans.

The engine is basically stock with the exception of Headers, LS6 intake (stock for the 2002) and the Comp ***** Thumpr Cam and Springs. Tuned it produced 361 RWHP and 342 RWTrq. If I corrected for 15% drivetrain lost, the is 415+ at the crank.. not to bad for a cam only, could be better if I had used a different cam. .but I just love the sound this one makes.. LOL

Make a few laps on the GG Auto-X for a shake down, due to the low Vacuum I was pretty much late on most of the turns due to the late braking. Oh well.. the plan is to add a Vacuum Can or Pump. Still fighting to get the Alignment right due to the cheap slugs in the A-Arm Cross Shafts.. POL is suppose to forward me the newer design one.. still waiting. If not, I will look into some other ones.

A few show on the Auto-X, results were not too bad, could have been much better if the brakes were responding and modulating correctly.. but it was fun anyway !

So.. project is semi finished, paint and body will have to wait until I get another job. Once I get the Alignment ironed out, I will head to Sonoma Raceway for the 1/4 mile test.

Man, that idles sound is full of win! The power may not peak as high as some of the dyno hero cams, but it sure does have an amazingly broad torque curve and power peak. And that cam sounds like it will make 560 rwhp instead of 360 rwhp. LOL I am curious to see what it run.

No... didn't get around to that yet.. but hopefully next spring. Right now it is back up on Jack Stands, Re-doing the rear shock mount by re-enforcing the Sub-Frame area.

If it gets into the 13's with street tires, I will be happy with that and will work on trying to tuning the suspension for a few more ten's if possible. Maybe some DR's...

It's running ok.. some drivability issues, but I live with it, due to the Cam.

Have not done anything, as I have been working on restoring my family's 1948 Ford F-1 farm truck back to the street, I've had to rebuild the trans, electrical, cooling, new tires and fuel system just to get it running. Has been in storage since 1975. It is now registered and running around town.

Old Family Farm Truck.

Very nice! We just got a chance to run our ls swap nova at the drags. Went a full second faster than expected, couldn't be happier!

Thanks for the update! You've got quite a smattering projects to keep busy on. The farm truck looks awesome.

Regarding the Nova's driveability issues, what's specifically wrong?

Default Finally a 1/4 mile iupdate !

Finally got to Sonoma Raceway for some 1/4 mile fun.. can't believe that it has been over 2 years that I was planning on going and finally getting to it now. wow...

Best ET = 12.869 backed by a 12.993
Best trap speed = 109.97
Best RT = -0.212
Best 60' Time = 1.934 (but mostly 2.0x)

This is with street tires. Didn't really pull hard on the top end.. most likely needed a plug change (been in there for over a year) and some better tires. Rolled off the line kinda easy and then on to the Throttle. Spun the wheel here and there some.

But not bad for the Cam (Comp ***** Thumpr) that I had, that is not really a top end cam. Most likely why it felt like it wasn't pulling hard on the top end.

On the top end.. the front felt like it was floating and moving a bit, most likely due to the front end setup that is setup for turning (auto-x).. any little movement of the wheel would result in a lot of change in car movement... not really idea for drag racing.. had to resist to making any quick or hard wheel movements... way different than my Chevelle.. which goes straight and rock solid as compared to the Nova.

Fun night !

Congrats on the run! Nice to have dipped into the 12s on the first outing.

I wonder why you car felt floaty and sensitive/darty. How much toe-in and caster are you running?
