5.3 into 96 2 Door Tahoe light resto
I have build thread over on ls1 truck but i liek the response alot of people are getting on this site so i figure ill what you guys think.
Heres the patient
1996 Chevy Tahoe 2 Door 4x4
Recently Built 385 Stroker 4k mi.
Heads port and polish
Stock 350 Vortec block bored 0.40 over
custom ground 3-4 race cam 281 dur .512 lift
Keith Black Pistons
Eagle 3,75 inch stroker crank
Eagle H beam rods
Clevite bearings
Melling High Perf Oil Pump
Ported TB
Msd Ignition Dist/Coil/Wires/6AL
Corvette Servo
MPFI Injector Upgrade
Stock Manifolds
Stock Intake
354 rwhp
I originally built this engine with the intent to race it. However i recently aquired a 68 malibu ss and so i want to make the truck a good DD again. So instead of reinstalling the old 350 i still had i decided to install a lm7 for some better gas mileage and about the same performance.
Picked up this complete 5.3 from a 2005 Avalanche for $500 on craigslist. Had everything but the pcm and pedal.
The next day i decided to start removing the stroker. Got it out in about 5 hours and labeled all the connections to make the install of the new motor a little easier.
motor removed and sold
Once i got the engine out i decided to clean up the frame and the whole engine bay. The stroker had an oil leak so it was pretty bad.
sanded, primered and painted
front end put back together
Time to clean up the motor. stripped down all the acessories and painted it up.
Now its time to redo the harness. took about 6 hours but im almost done. just ordered the fuse block obd port and relays today. already removed all the stuff i dont need.
how it started
breaking it down
what was removed
whats left
once i get the relays and stuff ill put new insulation on the wires.
in the meanwhile i decided to change out that ugly carpet in the truck
new carpet
old carpet was horrible!!!!
almost finished installing the carpet. i love the way it looks. definatley made the inside of my truck look 100x better. now all i have to do is order a custom tuned pcm. i should have the motor dropped in this weekend hopefully.

I'm looking to upgrade my Vortec 5.7 to a LS1! I don't know anything about installing or things I will need!! Do you do any outside work on vehicles or was that a personal project? If, so do you know where I can get a full setup? Thanks!!
