If your Trans is a T5, it can work. but the T5 are pretty weak and many not stand up to any abuse that you give it with a Gen III/IV engine and the out put would most likely be t doubled what you currently have.

There are a few thread on using T5, it can be done. If you plan to only use it as a Daily driver and don't abuse it, it will be ok for a while (?). You might have to spend some time using the search (using different search words) or hope someone pings in with their thread link. (search results might be a hint as that not many are using the weak T5).

Good Luck..

+1 on that... you may be able to sell that truck as a whole and have enough money for a t56?

The t5's are not very strong at all, and I even contemplated using one in my 79 Camaro that I had that only had about 300bhp and all speed shops were telling me to stay away from the t5.

If it's a T5, yeah they're weak.
If it's an NV3500 10 spline derivative (integral bell housing) I'm thinking it has the big bell housing that would fit a 12" clutch. Pretty good chance it would bolt up with an 05 6.0 manual clutch and LS7 pilot bearing.

GM never put a T5 behind a 350. Do you know what trans you have?

In a truck anyway
Not sure how many camaro 350s got a T5 since the 305 could break them pretty easy.

If its 10 spline you can use a 11" clutch for sure I don't know about 12" but if the bell fits you can use it...just don't dump that clutch!

Sorry, but this is wrong. The L98 was NEVER offered with a T5. They were all automatics. The T5 is extremely weak as noted already.

That is my understanding also.. Only 305 got the manual T5, 350's got Auto only. If you find one, someone most likely swapped it.

IIRC... The T5 could only take about 265 (NWC) to 295 (WC) ft/lbs of torque...

If it's a truck tranny, it's not a T5. It's the NV3500 and it won't take the power of any good LS engine unless you drive it like a granny getting groceries.

The NV3500 will handle about 330TQ, at max. if your just going to drive it and not abuse it, I would think it would last a little while behind a stock LS1.

The f body boards pretty much all say the same thing. No T5s behind 350s, too weak, but I'm not sure they could not be ordered. But definitely not a good idea.

Just not sure what was available on trucks. T5s were available behind 4.3s in S10s and Astro Vans. Not sure about 1500s, they were available with 4.3s. But judging by the OP comments, neither the trans or engine might be original.

I put a t5 behind a 350hp "rated" 350 and didn't baby it. Lasted just fine until I sold the drive train to a guy that then put a turbo on the set up, and lasted fine.

I know I'm just one guy w/ the T-5 of doom apparently, but they really are not glass.
