Default 5.3 Swap questions

I am swapping a 5.3 LM4 & T56 into a Honda S2000

The junkyards around me have a few of these engines complete but without a wiring harness/ECU

Basically what I am wondering is if I can use a F-Body LS1 wiring harness/ecu combo (flashed of course) to run my setup? I am using all of the Fbody accessories/intake.

What troubles can I expect or what else would I need?

Im ready to pull the trigger on the engine but I want to be sure of this.

Thank you and sorry if this is a dumb question im new to this stuff

PSI has a harness for you 500$ plug and play and you know it works, plus free tech support. Also they can provide you with a flashed ecu for 200 for your exact setup, and start up. So 700 dollars and you get no confusion worth it to me. I should probably go introduce my self now lol. Dont forget about a chassis harness aka head lights and what not you may need to look into that as well.

Im not really looking to buy a cheap aftermarket harness.
Im wondering if an fbody harness would work with this engine/transmission

F body harness will work but the injector connectors are different than the truck ones, but if you are planning on running a car intake and injectors it will be fine.

Don't forget to upgrade the diff to a 8.8 ford to handle your new found power. There are kits out there for this or build your own.

yeah a new rear is definitely on the list but i want to get it up and running first with the stock rear

so what I am gathering is that as long as you match the harness and ECU you are fine?

Also the only difference between the two are the injector clips. Nothing else?

As long as it's a GEN III engine w/ls1 harness, matching PCM and ls1 intake and injectors, you are fine.

so it seems one of the junkyards lied to me. the engine has a harness but no ecu. would it be better to just source an ecu and switch over the injector connectors or go fbody for everything

I highly doubt a truck intake would fit under your hood anyway. If you are not modding your own truck harness to ls1 style, that doesn't matter either. A ls1 harness has everything you need and a bunch of things you probably don't, but is easier to convert to stand alone since everything is there. You can get a PCM for about 200 already flashed to work with the stand alone Ls1 harness. Or you can source them separately but costs about the same.

Okay so the truck engine came with a complete engine harness in great condition so I would like to use it if possible. Trouble is it did not come with an ECU

From my understanding all I have to change is the injector connectors.. this is no problem. Does anyone know what type they are?

So I have a few questions

1) Is this the ECU I need? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-BUICK-RAINIER-Engine-Brain-Box-CONTROL-UNIT-ECM-ECU-5-3L-next-to-air-box-/390762039554?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5afb3b8902&vxp=mtr
2) Will I need any T56 specific wiring? Where would be a good place to source this

3) Are there any other issues I am going to run into?

The PCM listed is for drive by wire. Most Ls1 are drive by cable except Corvette. The link I sent you will also tell you The pcm needed for drive by cable and if a newer pcm will work. Look for hardware number and service number.

There are numerous PCM's you can use. I went with the famous 411 in my 240sx FYI. Had it flashed by Wiring Specialties for a great price since I am also getting my wiring harness made up by the them.

My setup:
05 LM7
LS6 Intake with Drive-By-Cable conversion (truck intake will not work with most of our import hoods)
LS6 OEM injectors on an Ebay Fuel Rail
CTS-V Accessory Drive (frees up about 3 inches of space between rad and balancer)
411 PCM reflashed

Pretty generic setup. I dont know a damn thing about wiring so I left it up to the pros. A few local guys made their own harness into their imports but I just felt more warm and fuzzy having the pros make it for me.

When I modded my 2005 L33 drive by wire to drive by cable. I made sure not to cut any of the unpinned wires from the Blue/green connector. That way I had a nice long tps and Iac harness. I use the oil pressure switch connector for the tps, but had to source the iac connector from the junkyard($2). Any wire connections I soldered(there is debate on which is best on this forum). I have never had issues with soldered joints though. Once I had all unused wires(emission stuff) removed, then I converted to drive by cable. That way there was no confusion what was left to do. I followed the lt1swap.com pinouts and used the pictures on the facebook step by step to complete the harness with no issues.

Just realizing the engine did not come with the MAF. Is there a specific one I need to get or anything?
