LS2 in a Mustang?
Hey guys.. I'm a owner of a 2002 Mustang GT.. the wimpy little 4.6L 2V SOHC motor haha.
Well.. I had cams, full bolt-ons, headers, etc... My motor spun a bearing upon startup tuesday morning. It's getting put back together with another 2V motor, but it's only temporary.
I was thinking about doing an LS2/T-56 swap in it.. how hard would it be? would it even be worth it?

You are looking at a lot of work. It's definately doable. I think the biggest obstacle would be redoing your fuel system. Currently you have a pulse width modulated fuel pump that is controlled by a computer. You would have to scrap this whole setup to go with the GM motor. No biggie though, if you have the time, tools, money, and the know how, go for it.

Its not too tough. Swap in a regulator off any returnless GM system (or aftermarket) and plumb it back to the tank. Then just ground the fuel pump where it used to wire into the PCM so it runs at full speed all the time. For the power brakes, leave them alone - the hydraboost system works fine on a GM power steering pump just like they do on a Ford power steering pump. You just have to connect the lines, but that's pretty straight forward.
Wiring the dash would be somewhat of an issue, but were it my car I'd just buy the Autometer cluster with standard gauges and wire it up.
The rest is pretty basic stuff that's been covered several times before. There's a couple K-member options and such, but the motor more or less bolts in.

The motor itself is a direct bolt-in for the 4.6 kmember. As suggested, the Autometer gauge pod is likely the most straight forward option to get your gauges working, but a custom harness from speartech or Current Performance might be able to retain your factory gauge setup. There's also the issue of the added length of the T56, but there are several companies that make crossmembers for a T56 behind a 4.6, and those should work fine. The factory power steering rack will work fine with the LS1 pump and hydroboost braking system. You can wire the alternator in as a "one-wire" deal for simplicity. The LS1 f-body radiator and fan setup will fit fine, as it does in a fox body .. and you've already got an 8.8 which is better than the f-body junk. Go for it!
