Wink Simple Engine Swap

Just assemble/buy a complete shortblock LS1 and install all your 5.3 accessories on it, and then it's just a simple R & R, using your 5.3 harness/computer as well. This is the easiest of all swaps. Its been brought up before, here on the board. Research, research, research.

Might also consider just building up the 5.3, people do make decent power with those. just a thought, its only a difference of .4 liters.

I take it that a built up long block would work just as well???? what kinda difference is there between intake/injection system between the ls and ls1. And if i was to use a 6.0 longblock, will the 5.3 harness and computer work with that as well?

The ls1 intake manifold is different. It's a lower desing and will not clear the truck water pump. Just use the 5.3 manifold an youll be set.

Yes the 5.3 computer and harness will work with the ls1 and 6.0.

Basicaly the 5.3 and ls1 and 6.0 are the same externaly and are completely interchangeable. You could bolt a 5.3 in a camaro or a vette if you wanted to and vice versa.

The only thing you need from the 6.0 or ls1 is the block and heads. If you use an ls1, you have to install the oil pan from your 5.3 on it IIRC.
