Looks like an extension for a 3 wire sensor but which sensor is it?

the wires are red, pink/black, and brown/white

Looks like the Cam position sensor wires, but why to they have an extension that goes to the front of the engine, then right back to where they came from?

Wow, this has been eating at me for a few hours now, and I'm surprised I couldn't find anything about this on here!

Well I'm not sure why it is like that but I went ahead and pulled it. Got rid of 3 wires, all 3-4 feet long and a plug

That is only on some of the early F-body car harnesses. My guess is that the CAM sensor was originally going to be on the front of the engine or something, and after the harness was designed, they put it in the back, and just put that piece in there as an afterthought.

Yes.. it is a extension.... I can't recall which sensor it is for, but I recall it is the cam sensor(?). But I asked about it over a year and a Half ago in thread... GM move the sensor to the rear and they just added the wire and plug to it. On my Swap.. I just remove the extension and plug it directly to the sensor cause I rerouted all of my wires that allowed me to do so.
