What is a safe (relatively) RPM to launch??
MT ET street radials (255-50-16) with a stock 10 bolt?
I know it's not a good idea, but I can't shell out 2K for a 12 bolt right now.
Edit...I guess I should have put this in drag racing tech.

I've pulled off some high 1.6's and low 1.7's launching at 2000rpms, but mine is an auto. it is really hit or miss. Some hold up well and some do not. I've seen 6 speed cars break with stock power levels from 2500rpms and have also seen some 10 bolts hold up to 400rwhp dumping the clutch from higher than that. If you don't have the money to rebuild then it might be best to take it easy until you do. What if your 10 bolt is one of the duds?

I tried to launch at
2,000 - 2.2 60'
2,500 - 2.1 60'
3,000 - 2.0 60'
4,000 - 2.0 60'
4,200 - 2.0 60'
The tires hooked and then the car bogged really badly. I ran .02 faster than last year and I went from a TR220 to a TSP 231/237. I even lost 2 MPH. I went to the track hoping for 11's so I am pretty pissed.

BTW we need to check stories, maybe we are on to something. You said you lost 2 mph, I am missing about 2-3mph atleast. I am thinking its the lack of low to midrange power. Its killing the 330s which is killing the 1/8 mph. Thats where the missing mph is at. Gimme the stats on your slip.

fwiw I dump the clutch at 6600rpm off the rev limiter, stock clutch and stock 10 bolt. This on slicks. 60' is in the 1.98-2.0 range.
I am down ~80hp from you sea level guys but 6600 rpm clutch dumps can't be good at any power level.

What was the difference in weather?
If the slip has a date and time you can look it up at www.weatherunderground.com .
FWIW with the exact same setup except 200lbs lighter I was running the same E.T's and traps. The difference was 30 degrees in temp and a higher humidity....

Your second slip mirrors mine. Notice the weak 1/8 mph. Your 60' is about average but your 330' is about a half a second off what other guys are running. I think thats the missing link. SHould be a 5.0-5.10, not 5.50s, even with the same 2.0. I think these things are just bogging too bad after the dump and its killing the 330'. Thats keeping the 1/8 mph down and if its down, the 1/4 will be down. I think it has something to do with these big *** cams, just not enough low to midrange power with stock gears. I am thinking a 4.10 will help this flat spot in power but I don't see it giving us the 3-4 mph we are missing. I had almost perfect conditions to.

Get rid of the rev limiter and get the 4:10's. That way you can hold it in 3rd as you cross the line. With the gears, you should pick up 2+mph. I went with 3:73's on mine and picked up 2mph.
