Default OK, got motor plate in, what about WP, Alt., etc...

OK guys, got my motorplate in from Madman and I plan on running stock LS1WP, Alt, AND PS. Now, the PS is NOT a definite....more like a probable. I do plan on running stock WP and Alt. So, you guys running the plate, how are you set up with teh accessories? Got any pics for me?

Thanks guys!

I had to cut .250 off the back of my alt bracket to offset the distance the alt moved forward as a result of plate thickness (so it'll line up with my crank pulley) I had an electric water pump too, so I didn't have to worry about the WP.

Another option is to have a custom balancer made by ATI that moves the belt .250 further out then everything would line up just as if it were on the block...

Now THATS too funny!! I am not kidding you, I JUST got my custom made ATI in yesterday!!! BUT, I did NOT have it made to compensate for teh offset in belt location I had them put in the 60 durometer rubber instead of the 40 is what I had them do

I guess I can call Mez, but do you know if their pump can handle street duty?

the flow on the race pump is less than I'd like to see personally...though I think many have done it

look at your factory pump...specifically where the belt rides on the pulley....since its flat, it might be ok for the belt to ride 1/4" further back on the pulley...

The race pump with no tstat on the street would probably be o.k., they do make a high flow version of the race pump as well.

If you're upgrading the radiator, you could always get a radiator with the pump on it and just do the remote mount pump, which is another option.

I cut the motor plate so that I could use the BMR race alt bracket, I couldn't get the balancer to sit square like Fireball's setup so I took that route. Next time around I'll do it the same way but I will have the bracket milled the thickness of the plate so that way I can have a couple more bolts in the motor plate. A remove water pump will also get the nod.

I'm going with the remote water pump for this year...also gives easier access to the cam since the water pump holds the motor in...

That's another bonus yes. During my parts collection/racing break, one thing I'm going to pick up is a substantially smaller/lighter radiator with a remote mounted pump... which will either make it onto this car, or the next one if it sells.

That orange transam that you had sent me a picture of had a REALLY small radiator on it, to the point that I started checking around and that is a fisable option for a car that sees no street duty. That being said, the one that Burkhart mounts in their bumper support is probably gonna be the route I take, or something like it.

OK guys thanks for the info. I did forget to add that this is all going in a Fox Body Mustang (yeah, I know, another one ) so I am gonna upgrade the radiator while I am there. I did not think about the remote mounted pump....hmmmmm. I guess I can always talk directly with them and see what they say about street duty.

So, you are saying that you cut the motorplate around teh Alt area to get it to fit, instead of bolting it to the plate?

Yes. the 6 waterpump bolts hold the plate to the motor, and I ran a torsional support from the A/C mounting tabs to the frame rail (plate holds the motor centered, stops it from rotating and moving side to side, and the torsional support stops it from shifting forward/backwards)

Right. This is my second plate mount setup. First was a SBF in a Fox Body Mustang. Let's see if I can post a pic:

I actually made that motor plate myself with a sawzall and a 3" flapper wheel and a grinder
