Default does nitrous effect gearing?

i dont think i ever saw this posted but does nitrous effect the gearing of a car? i think it does but would like to see. i put 3.70s in my 9" and that should put me right at about 140mph at the top of forth. i have a set of 4.30s but from wat the calculator says id be at lik 123mph top of 4th. if thats correct then the 3.70s should be better for my set up right? 27" tire and a 6 speed goals in sig.

What do you run now? What is your n/a 1/4mi mph? n.o.s usually adds 10-12mph more to the n/a times for the 125-150 shot. I do run 4.11's a 26'' tire and a 150 shot @ 134mph on my old set up. I have my rev set at 7,300rpm's so I can make it down the 1/4mi. My new set up is 130mph n/a and need to go more tire. But,MOST do go to the 3.73-3.90 gears for n.o.s. Then a 26'' or 27'' tire can be used easier.

the car has no motor right now. but should be more then capable of reaching my goal. the motor going in is a 385 with a hefty HR 220cc heads and a 200 shot. i was just trying to see if 1. nitrous effects gearing in the rear and 2. if im using the right gears.

I'm not sure how you're only going to be able to go 140 with a 3.70 and a 28 inch tire... you should be able to go alot faster then that unles you're shutting the motor down way too early (RPM wise)

4.30 and a 28 should be able to get you to 140+, which is plenty for the goal you have set.

Me, **** I'll spin it to whatever it takes

Anything less then 7200 and you're probably gearing the car too tall.

As long as the clutch can hold the extra power it wont effect it.

some nitrous motors prefer to be spun low and have tall gears... the slower the engine speed the more nitrous in each revolution thus more power per revolution.

thats why nitrous motors make soo much torque early... more nitrous in each hole at slower speeds.

Exactly. It's not like blowing through to loose of a converter. Congrats by the way on your new 1/8 mile times. Awesome job.
