Default Will a 15x12 fit without mini-tub?

Id like to possibly run a 275/60/15 on a 15x12 but the only 15x12 cars I've seen are mini-tubbed. Is this possible?

I'm thinking hell no..I have a 15x12 but i dont think it would have got under there without the mini tub and narrowed rear. Besides,A 15 x 10 will work just as good if not better with a 275.

i agree, i think a 15x12 might be a little too wide for a 275/60. i had a 315/60 on a 12" wheel and it was plenty wide enough for even that tire.

i tried every combo on the t/a and the ss and the best was the 15x10. even with a fender cut and a big f/n hammer, you would have rub with a 12" rim.

That's to much wheel for that size tire.

Unless you're going to run the 325/50 or 315/60 radial, or a tire like a 28x10.5 I don't think there's anything to be gained by going to a 12 inch rim, other then fitment issues.

You can run them, but a minitub is a must, and you are going to have to narrow the rear, and have a somewhat skinny control arm offset as much as possible to not rub on the tire. I've been looking at this for a while, and was considering going to a 15x12 when the 29.5x10.5S tires go on.

The gut who sold me my 28x10.5 S's also tried selling me a 12" wheel. I called Hoosier, and they said since the biggest tire I can run comfortably on my car is a 29x10.5W, I would not see any gain for a 12" wheel. In fact, it would add unnecessary weight over a 10".

There is a myth that the wider the wheel, the more tread width you get. According to the manufacturers, the tread width is fixed and only the section width is variable (about .2" change for every .5" change in wheel width).

So that was the answer I got, right from the guys who make my tires. I am not saying that a 12" may not be better than a 10" for some applications, but for me it was not worth the money.

Well plan are for 3" off each side of my 9". Just have to sell my stock length axles and buy new ones and have the housing narrowed. Id really like a 15x12 and a 325 DR but like everyone says, the mini-tub is needed. How much of a pain is the mini-tub process?

I hear you and there's certainly times that it won't help. But, the 12 inch rim will do a couple things. It will flatten teh contact patch out some, not increase it, but get rid of some of the "bubble" effect. It will also help decrease the groth a little bit, and will help with stability as well.

I'm not 100% sold on it being the right move either, I have been told by a couple guys that it would probably work for what I have planned, couple have said it's probably not going to make any difference at all and they said to spend the extra $ on double beadlocks, which is seeming like a better idea.

I may, just stick with a 15x10 and double beadlock them. Narrow the rear 4 inches per side and go with a 4 inch backspacing, tuck the tires in another 1/2 inch in the process. not sure yet, but I do know I will be minitubbing regardless, and I want to run a 29.5x10S et drag, yank the 3.73's and put the 4.10's back in the car. The tire and gear change are the only things I'm sure of at this point.
