Default will the stock driveshaft hold up to a 1.4x

well money is tight so i was wondering if the upgraded 1350 ujoint with a stock drive shaft will hold up to about 10 hard lauches from 6500rpms, pulling 1.4x 60's just for the shootout.
what are the odds. and who has done it.

you'll probably be ok to make it to the shootout at least.

guess it depends on how lucky you get, Its just like the stock 10 bolt, i have seen them in the 10's, but i have also seen them break on 13 second cars. If it was me i wouldnt trust it, but thats me.

IF you are M6 I doubt it. A4 might survive. Can you pick up a stock steel DS? That would be stronger IMO.

I know there is more than 1 stock drive shaft type. Both are aluminum. When I went to the Moser rear with the 1350 yoke...I did some research to find out which u joint adapter to get. The majority said a 1310 to 1350. I bought that one...come to find out I did not have a 1310. The guy at the DS shop said I had some kind of metric U joint that was substatially stronger than the 1310. It was similair in size to the 1350. The rest of the DS is 3" aluminum. Not sure if they differ in any other way.

After putting the metric to 1350 U joint adapter in..I ran several LOW 10s...with a best of 10.0 at 138 and several 1.44 sixty foots. The DS appaers to be strong.

I probably will be getting an upgrade soon though.

I have seen both. I have a stocker in my car running 140 traps and cutting 1.46 60fts.

I also saw one of our ZL1s (#69 Grumpys Toy) break two of them off the line without movin the car 1 inch...

I think how aggressive your clutch is will determine how long the shaft will live......

well i have the 1350 u-joint so im more worried about twisting the aluminum or the front u-joint.

I've run a bunch of low 1.5X launches on my stock driveshaft. I know smkur50 had as low as 1.47 and many LOW 1.5x launches on his stock DS.

i have about 150 launches in the 1.5-1.6 in the mn6 car on stock drive shaft. this auto doesnt hit the tires as hard but still pulls low 1.5s on the stock DS as well. raceweight has a big factor here as well as overhooking the car.

welp i hit a hardcore preped track (loose your shoes walking on it), and put in 13 psi in 28" et drags on my 380 rwhp car launching at 6000 rpms = busted ring and pinon on the moser 12 bolt. that was my first trip to the track with the 4.56 gears. my mistake was the psi.

I've pulled basically 20 to 30 pulls last year on a mildy modified TA and haven't had any problem with the rear or driveshaft. Automatic with a 3500 stall btw.

But each time I've ran on street tires though with my best 60' of 1.8s. I run consistant 1.9s and 2.0s mainly.

I'm running this year with some BFG DR's so not 100% how things will hold up this time hehe.
