Bracket Racing rules for Footbrake or Modified
Just a heads up on what class I bracket class in.
Footbrake or Modified class is for race cars that don't run electronics these type of race cars run anywere from low 8 seconds to 15 second range.
No-Electronics defind: No Transbrakes or linelock launches allowed. Delay boxes, 2-step starts, timer or RPM activated throttle stops or shifters not allowed. Downtrack timers/counters/Real Time Displays, stutter boxes(including rev. limiters or equivalent ignition interruption) are not allowed in any class.
To win in this class you have to be able to cut a good light(5.0's to 530's)and run your dail in.(within 1-3 thousandth) to win.
See ya at the races.

Coach, from what I can tell you are a "Drag Racing Junky"
That should be your title on this board.

Re: Bracket Racing rules for Footbrake or Modified
I know different sactioning bodies/tracks have different rules they go by, but at Gainesville (as far as their points series goes) 10.0 is the quickest a footbrake (Pro ET) car can dial, while the electronics class (Super Pro) is 7.50-11.99...
I have raced at some IHRA 1/8th mile tracks where pretty much "anything goes" for the footbrake cars, right down to 7 & 8 second dragsters...

"RPM activated throttle stops or shifters not allowed"
Does that mean no automatic transmissions?

No, it means that you can't have a throttle stop in order to control your ET (such as Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street racers use).

...or air-shifters, etc. Shifts generally have to occur as a direct result of the driver (moving the shift lever), or internally in the tranny (plain old automatic valvebody). Although the 4L60E has an electronic valvebody, it doesn't count since it is OEM equipment. Something like the Turbo ACtion Cheetah E-shift wouldn't generally be allowed in a footbrake class, although I've heard something about electronic shifters being allowed (in the NHRA at least) this year in non-electronics classes...

Yeah, if the weather holds out this weekend, I may have to join you again at TAD on Sunday in modified AND street. $15 is too cheap for another entry and a chance at another $100. Are you still planning on TAD for Sunday?

I know many rules vary from track to track but as far as nationwide bracket series (like B&M, etc.), air shifters generally ARE allowed in the no electronics class.

Trevor,
Yes, I will be racing at TAD again this weekend. The weather, I think will hold out. I have been checking on it everyday this week.
We are going to try and run for $1400.00 to win on Sat. night at River City Raceway."Weather is the big concern".
We hope to see you Sunday.
Later,
