It's actually going to be released as soon as the clutch switch is released (hence the clutch is released). You basically use a momentary switch to arm it, the clutch switch keeps it held via an internal relay (just guessing about that Harlan). I would e-mail Harlan directly for instructions, but I'll go out to my car tomorrow and refresh my memory. It's pretty easy to hook in though.

I love mine, and couldn't do without it.
As far as wiring it into the clutch pedal, yes, it can be done. I don't know the specifics since I don't have a manual tranny though.
Maybe Harlan will chime in here with some insight...

If you want to "hook it to the clutch" I use the cruise control switch located just under the dash, right by the clutch. -- The 2-step is opposite of what is usual. Push in the clutch actually engages the 2-step; push the momentary switch; at launch when you release the clutch this actually completes the circuit, which actually shuts off the 2-step. I don't use the cruise any more - doesn't work to good at the track

Re: harlen 2 step
Sorry i didn't get to this sooner. Out on a business trip right now.
The guys pretty much have it right.
There are 3 wires on the 2 step in addition to the connectors used to make the coil pack "splices"
1 is an active ground output. Whenever the 2 step is in the "limit" mode, this wire will be connected to ground. You use it to activate a relay that will disable your nitrous.
The other 2 wires are the activate button and the hold input. If you want to simply activate the 2 step with say a transbrake application, you ground the hold wire and use a button to ground the active wire. when the activate wire sees ground, the 2 step goes into limit mode.
on 99+ cars, you can actually use the factory clutch switch to use the hold function. The 98 cars don't have a dedicated PCM clutch input, so you'll have to use an addition switch on the pedal, or use the cruise switch like stated above. That setup, you push in the clutch, press and release the activate button. The 2 step stays in limit mode until you either release the clutch or push the activate button again.
I use the clutch hold mode, stage, clutch in, press the button, go to WOT. Step off the clutch, and your gone.

Re: harlen 2 step
I dont have a lot of power like some of you guys, but I've been thinking about getting one of these to improve consistancy. Would I be just wasting my money?

If you have a M6, you will see some great launch consistency. My first launch off the two step was a new personal best. Partly to do with the NPR track, but I was able to back it up repeatedly after that. The only issue is you can't use it for bracket racing, so when I was launching without it my consistency took a dump in comparison (I measure a dump as .05+ on my 60').
