Default Light weight carpet

Ive ran a search and nothing comes up under a place to purchase lightweight carpet. Does anyone know where you can buy direct replacement lightweight carpet?

Thanks

I believe Speed Inc stopped carrying the lightweight carpet after the company changed the design. I'd be curious to see if Year One has had any problems with theirs.

You didn't happen to buy it in the past month or two did you? I want to get the Year One but I'm waiting to make sure that they still fit like they used to.

Does the new carpet come without any holes in it? I am losing the rear seat and was wondering what my best bet is?

Yes i did. weighs a fraction of what the "lightweight" carpet weighs. looks pretty good too. If you take your time you could get it to look REALLY good. i only spent about 30 min on mine.

Ive got some Year One carpet in my garage. Its brand new. I did have to cut it for my to point. so it has 3 cuts in it. I wasnt happy with the fit/finish so I replaced it with stock carpet with the backing removed. If anyone is interested in it shoot me a PM.

I used thick pile fleece fabric from the fabric store, cost me around $30, weighed about 6lbs, glued in with 3M spray adhesive. Looks nice and wheighs nothing.

Stock weighs about 35 or 40, I can't remember. The Year One stuff weighs about 15 or a little less.

I want to know more about the stock carpet, backing removal.
Any tricks, any downsides, how much weight did you scrape
off? The back part of 'verts, you couldn't get from Speed Inc.
even when they were selling their version.

The backing will come off alot easier if you stick the carpet in the sun or just hit it with a heat gun or hair dryer. I don't have an exact weight but I can tell you that it is worth the hassle. I had a big garbage can full by the time I was done. Only down side would be that you may hear alittle more road/exhaust noise, your probrably not worried about that in a vert though.

so year one is the only place to get lightweight carpet? i looked on their site and could only find the normal stuff. i need to get a replacement cuz my carpet is screwed up on the drivers side and would like to replace it but i would rather spend an extra bit on lightweight stuff than just a replacement.

Someone could make a killing if they just came out with a thin carpet that had no backing at all that was actually molded to fit our cars... it seems like every time I turn around someone is looking for LW carpet, and noone sells a decent replacment that fits right.... if I had the means to do it, I'd be all over it.

Here's my 2 cents.....If you want a molded direct fit type of carpet it's never going to get much lighter than the stock carpet with the jute backing removed. ANY molded carpet will have a stiff rubber type backing to make it moldable and therefore will be just as heavy as stock. If you are truely worried about those last 2-3 pounds, I think you'll want to look at something called "Ozite" or "Flex form". This is the stuff used to cover seat backs, speaker boxes, etc. It's about $11/yard on a 80" roll usually, about 1/4" think, is somewhat flexible with a soft backing and I've seen it in black, tan, blue, red and gray. Call your local auto trim/upholstey supply place to get it.

I just re-carpeted my race car with the stuff and it cost me about $40, looks almost identical to cut pile carpet and weighs about 5-8# for 4 yards.

I'm no carpet expert or anything, but I've recently searched all over for new carpet and this seems to be the best/cheapest/lightest stuff going....oh, and I did stay at a holiday inn express last night too. LOL.
