Default Lightest drag radial?

I know the moroso ds-2 is the lightest front runner, but what about drag radial?

MT, BFG, Nitto?...someone else?

Probably gonna be the Hoosiers. Last time I checked the 275/60's, the Hoosier was around 8 lbs lighter per tire than the same size M/T.

FWIW I weighted a 275/50/15 BFG and MT and the BFG was like 3#'s lighter but looks like it has less tread.

Wow, I didn't realize Hoosier was manufacturing a DR. Any further info? Very interested.

The Hossier tire is most likely the lightest tire. The lightest for the front is goodyear skinnies. Cheers.

The M/T DR is the best DR I've ever used...You'll get 1.6s out of them ...I 1.55d all last year with them...the small 255 50 R16s on stockers are the best bang for the buck...They measure 26x(almost)10...They may be a bit heavy, but they hook terrific...

I pulled several 1.66's with a 17" inch ET street radial at 22psi. I was limited by my converter and raceweight, dead hook each time. If a 17 incher can pull that I can only imagine what a 15" size is capable of. I know there are some in the 1.4x range just not sure what the record is.

This is probably what I will end up running.
I have no doubt that they'll hook, but they're 8 pounds heavier (each) than the hoosiers...at least its not on the nose.

And I thought the moroso ds-2 was the lightest front runner? How much does the goodyear way? Less than 10 pounds?

My sig picture is my 11.51 run with a 1.55 on 255 50 R16s on stockers...This is one instance where it hasn't hurt me to add a lil weight in the rear. Now I have Bogarts and 275 50 R15s and have removed the front sway bar...I haven't been to the track yet, but it almost pulls a wheel on the street...Locally, we've got a 408 N/A powered LS1 car that 1.43s on the same set up as I have...HIGHLY recommend these things!! The really fast guys around here are deep in the 9s with the 325 50 R15s deep in the 1.30s to 60'...And they ride real nice on the street....

Awesome...thanks for that info.
I'm glad to know the 255s can 60 in the 1.5 range...that'll be more than enough.

Thats impressive as hell, but I'm more concerned with what the narrower DR's will do.

hoosiers look to have less radial construction to me.... looks like a qtp. more or less why its lighter.
ive ran my best MPH at the track with those heavy MT radials and best 60ft, even over a 26" slick. these things are getting down.
buddy here local is cutting 1.4's in his lightning on them too.
i hated them at 1st, you really gotta burn um down the 1st few times till they are seasoned.

i have owned both the m/t and hoosiers( witch i have on the car for now )
275/40/17 size ..cut bunches of 1.55 to 1.59 on both tires..the only real difference was that the hoosiers were noticably lighter than the mickeys and if i remember the hoosiers were a little more $
