Default Will I have to shift into 5th?

I currently trap around 115 on street tires. After I have my 9" with 4.10s installed, will I have to shift into 5th gear at the end of the track? Assume stock tire size of 245/16/50. Thanks in advance.

Where is your rev limiter set? When I had 4:10's I didn't have to do it on motor, but I did on the kit. It was only because I was shifting the car at 6000. But your rev limiter will determine whether you shift to 5th or not.

Plug in your tranny ratios and final drive ratio. This will give you an approximate on where you would be. IMO I think you are. I've seen alot of guys on her running 3.73's with 26" tire and 4.10's with a 28" -Mark

EDIT: Might help if I put the damn link.

Mark,

My rev limiter is set at the factory rating of, I believe, 6200 rpm. I'm not sure what all my gear ratios are. I will look them up. Thanks for the link. Anyone else out there have an M6 with 4.10's??

T56:

1st- 2.66
2nd- 1.78
3rd- 1.30
4th- 1.0
5th- .74
6th- .60

In 4th gear w/ 4.10's and a 26" tall tire the calculator shows a mph of:

7000- 131.18
6500- 121.18
6000- 112.44

So you are already trapping 114mph and depending on where your rpms are at when you pass the traps I think you're going to hit the limit with a 26" tall tire and 4.10's. -Mark

I've had two diff. m6 set ups

1st. car 26" tire 390 gear 6,700 rpm 131mph 4th gear
2nd car 27" tire 410 gear 6,700 rpm 128mph 4th gear

I think you'll be right on the edge, but that's where you'll want to be.
