Default Stock looking race seat...26lbs...drop 12 lbs off your drivers seat!!!

I kinda like the comfort of my drivers seat and dont really ever adjust it any more so i figured i would see how much the power motor assembly weighs..comes out to 14lbs for everything under the seat...went down stairs in the crawl space and took my dads manual seat adjustment off of his seat and was just going to use that...Comes out that the manual is just as much as the power for the drivers seat...also tried to fit my other cloth seat in the drivers spot but the brackets are opposite...(fyi that seat only weighs 31 lbs)...

So i decided to go custom with some aluminum angle and some time and came up with these manual adjustment seats...when i say manual i mean you take off the seat and adjust it then throw it back in ...

Brackets, nuts, bolts, and washers weighed 2 lbs

Power motor and brackets removed weighed 14lbs...

lbs saved 12 lbs

Seat before weighed...38 lbs for a power cloth seat...

Now 26lbs...

Who wants some brackets???

So can you just set the position you want with the electric motor and then remove the motor(s) and it will stay? I haven't moved my seat since buying the car.

took about 30 min tops maybe to do it. and was presently suprised w/ the weight

Wow how secure would that seat be in the event of the unfortunate? I mean in terms of the brackets holding it down?

I had an extra set of seat brackets from a '95 Camaro and had always wondered what they weighed compared to the power. I guess now we know. Thanks.

I want those pics, post 'em up!

I was told that the electric motor is what kept the seat from moving once its positioned. If you remove it, the seat isn't locked in place. Apparently I was told wrong!

when you get in an accident the think that holds you back is the seat belt...not so much the seat...plus it is plenty strong trust me...

^^^ Hahaha.

I think it looks worth a try. If I don't like what I see, no harm, no foul. I'll at least have tried. I'm trying to keep my car as FACTORY and UNTOUCHED looking as possible. This would be a perfect mod.

So I've got this, the Ozite (or whatever), A/C, Spare/jack, Disk Changer, and a few others to do.

Yeah that's what i've heard. I'm counting on all these unseen weight mods to drop me down to 3300-3250. I'm already at 3400 now.
