427/TF 235 dyno tune results
I have mixed feelings, happy though, after many months of waiting.
Dyno's around 1:30 -2:00 at Mike Norris's place in Orlando, sunny, guessing 88-90 degrees. Weather could have been worse.
-Fresh ls7 based 427 w/ 160 miles, driving to Orlando.
-TFS 235s milled to 64cc (I wasn't real happy about milling the heads, would rather have changed pistons/custom pistons, JE must not have had a piston that came closer to my desired 11.8:1 compression)
-Patrick G Spec'd cam - wanted to closely follow Pray's cam, think it was high 240s / 250s / maybe 622 lift (can't remember exact numbers)
-yella terra ultra lights
-ported 92mm fast
-AR 1 7/8 headers / Y-pipe
-slp 2OTL 3" catback
- NO cutout
- NO electric water pump
-85mm slp maf
-most other bolt ons
-6 spd
-12 bolt w/ 4.10s
-Break in oil (The thickest oil I had ever seen)
SAE numbers were 534 rwhp and 492 rwtq
std numbers were 545 rwhp and 503
Mike was thinking based on some of the cars he has run lately that his dyno maybe reading 10-15 hp low (who really knows?)
Guess I was hoping for 550+ but it's still a **** load of power. There was a bunch of LS7 vs TF 235 talk and seemed to tilt towards the TF but I'm not sure if that's the case.
I know the vette has better exhaust, lighter drivetrain and dry sump but if some of their all out 427s can dyno 590, I don't know?

Ditto that. The last 418 I built with a set of TEA/TFS 235's made 557 RWHP through a 9" w/4.57 gears. I believe your exhaust is the problem. That is a good catback up to about 460RWHP. Try a cutout and see if you don't pick up a solid 25 to 30 hp.

It would be worth dropping the y-pipe and dynoing the car again. As stated above the exhaust is restricting your HP. You need to tune for it, if you open it up though. Dual 3" cut-outs would be my suggestion.
Still very impressive numbers with that rearend and gears.

Yep dual cutouts on the Y-Pipe or true duals will get you up over 550. The TFS 235s will make more power til about 5500 over the LS7s. But yeah, the LS7s will walk the TFS heads after that. And once the FAST LSXR is out, the LS7 head will make up some ground in the low-end as well as produce more uptop. And it needs less cam to make power for better drivability. Either way, I'd actually choose the TFS heads on an F-Body, though, just for the added torque in the midrange.
Btw, 600 is still hard with LS7. You're going to see 570-590 a lot more easily until the FAST comes out.

having no cutouts on that setup is choking that bitch harder than OJ choked Nicole in 95.
I forsee another 15-25RWHP from uncorking that exhaust... 565-570RWHP NA would be killer....

Pretty much have to echo what most have already said. Your Y pipe is killing the power, and the break in oil with low miles all add up to power on the table. You will do better with a few changes. Get a cutout bro, or do true duals ....

Thanks for all the input/help. I do feel better about it but I'm not sure what I'll be doing with the exhaust. I'm excited to see how it does at the track.
I'm running 16" wheels with 26" tires so I either need to change the tires/wheels or the gears. I like the stock look but the 27"-28" tire would hook better. I haven't decided what I will do.
I put the info in one of those calculators online and said I could reach 130 at 7,000 rpm. Mike Norris thought I could I only reach low 120s. I've hit 123.6 on my previous setup. May just have to see what happens.

The Y-pipe is great (awesome) but w/ a stroker probably need a 4" catback or cutouts. No complaints about the slp 2OTL catback either except they should have sold it band clamps. No longer available.
