Default Cam-only LS1 BTR Stage 4 Dyno Results!

Finally got my car to the tuner Friday for a tuning session, I'm very pleased with the results! The final numbers were 407 HP / 370 TQ in 90*+ weather. The low numbers on the chart were my bolt-on/tune baseline before the cam swap. How are the numbers comparing to other cam-only cars? It pulls so much harder now even with my 3.42 gears, I can't wait to change them to 4.11 or 4.30s/4.56s

Mods:
BTR Stage 4 cam
BTR .660 Springs
LS6 intake (stock)
TSP 1-7/8" headers + 3" Y pipe to a cutout
K&N FIPK

Sounds right on par with others. So you gained 46 hp with just the cam and re-tune?

Yes just a cam and a retune was all that changed. I'm sure in cooler weather a few more ponies will be found but I'm more interested in track results than a dyno #. I wonder how much more power can be had if I swap the ls6 for a fast 102/102.

The 102 should net you another 15 hp or so. I agree on using the track as the true indicator of what you have gained

Yup standard numbers. So gears will make it way more fun! I agree on the intake would get you close to 420 rwhp! Beat it up at the track.

I assume you have 4.56s in your car to run that 10.86 cam only? I would be more than happy with low 11s but 10s would be fantastic

Yup 4.56. No doubt have to drive like you don't care. Slicks and 6000+ rpm launchs. Good suspension weight reduction etc. but you can do it!

I agree, seems on par with what you'd net with a cam swap. The BTR Stage 4 cam is one of the better grinds for a cam only application.

Good numbers for Freed's dyno. It's a little on the stingy side. My car made 387 IIRC on that dyno. Track numbers are where it's at tho!

I thought about it, but the dollar per HP on that is kind of poor in my opinion Maybe if I find a deal on a 102 combo I'd consider it.

I agree, I was surprised it made 360 with just headers/intake on that dyno. I can't wait to take it to the track! I trapped 115 with bolt ons so I'm hoping to be at least in the 120 range, maybe 125?

Nice numbers...Looks like all the power gains are above 5k. Which is normal for a big cam. Definitely going to need some gears to keep it in its power.

50 whp gain is not going to pick up 10mph. If you trapped 115 before you might hit 117-118 now. With a set of 4.30 gears, 120 is possible.

Yea that's damn good on that dyno and your mph is good too. Should run hard with that new cam.

I have a black ported fast 102 not much time on it. Gonna have it up for sale in a few weeks. Also have a new black NW 92TB. Pm me if your interested in either. We could meet up and save the shipping cost

Oh and check with the guy who did your tune. Pretty sure he said the most he's seen on a cam only ls1 on that dyno was 420-430?

Now I just need some tire and a rear with gears better than 3.42s It pulls really hard up top now compared to what it was. I ran the 115 on street tire at the track too lol.

What would really wake up the combo is a nice set of ported heads. Aftermarket castings would be best, but even a set of ported 243's or 799's would help a ton.

I wonder what the power would be like with heads and intake, I asked BTR what they would suggest when I bought the cam and they said TFS 220s and a 102/102. I bought this cam intending on doing heads and intake in the future so that's not off the table

That cam with a fast and the TFS 220's would be a great combo on the LS1

Brian has told me that his hand worked TFS 220cc heads, port matched FAST 102mm intake/TB, and the cam you have will be right at 500 rwhp. Obviously it's going to depend on the dyno if the number is north of south of 500 rwhp. If it were me, I would opt for Brian's hand worked TFS 220's and port matched FAST 102.

Going to depend on how much you are willing to spend on the lifters and supporting valve train. That key element makes or breaks a setup...especially one like this that is going to need spun to 7-7200 rpm to stay up in the power.
