I have the ss4000 in my car and I wouldn't want to daily drive it. It is awesome at the track and fun on the street but it is very loose. It might be a little worse for me with the 402 but I'm usually between 3000-3500 rpms if I'm going up a hill or just trying to pick up speed quickly. The shift extension is awesome though and you are always in the powerband.

go big or go home. thats what i always say. i run a SS3600 in my little bolt on only LT1 and drive it everyday in the summer.
70mph 2300rpms
75mph 2400rpms
80mph 2500rpms
all with the lockup engaged. works the ballz if u ask me.
oh not to mention the 1.68 short times i cut with only a measly 273rwhp, bone stock suspension, and bone stock gears.
get the SS4000 u'll never look back.

PT series or SS? If it's a PT then forget it, I have a PT4000 and I wouldn't want to ever DD the car unless my exhaust was alot quieter but even then it's too loose. I miss my old SS3600 on the street to be honest, it was great. As for that 3600 Vig you had, they underrate their stalls so it was probaly in reality more like a 4000.

For N/A converters, loose is fast. Since you had a 3600, bumping up should not be an issue. I guess to boils down to personal preference. So as long as you get a quality 'verter then your halfway there. I used Pro Torques for years, no issues. PI Vigi has a great rep, and companies like Yank and Circle D are some damn good companies.
Either way I think you will like it. Make sure you got a good cooler and have fun at the track.

I'm pretty damn picky and want everything with no side effects.
Don put a 4000 rpm converter in and with his tune it would lock up around 40 mph, sometimes a tad sooner. When I get back into the game I'm going 4,000 without question. If someone with a crying vagina is as big as mine can handle it then anyone can.

I did use a fair amount more gas....I have a similar setup to the person who started this post but I think I used more gas when I went with the different gears in the rear vs going with the converter (if you can use that for comparison).
If your used to a 3600 now a 4000 shouldnt be that different. I live in the suburbs and my converter was always locked up even driving down the street, it's not like I was still in South Boston where you never get over 15 mph.
