Flycutting
I was hoping that someone could do me a huge favor, I need to flycut my pistons and I really have no way to get the motor to someone. If someone is able to come to my house and help I would be eternally grateful. I can do it this Thursday or this Sunday. Again thanks to anyone willing to help. I live in Nokomis which is south of Sarasota.
Thanks Eric

How hard is it to do this? How do you know how much you need to cut? Come to Deland? I am thinking of doing a TSP MS4 and my heads are shaved .030. I was gonna go with an MS3, but they tell me that it wont work with my heads, so if I gotta flycut anyway, I might as well go all the way. My current mods are in the fquick link in my sig.

its not hard at all you just need 1 intake valve and 1 exhaust valve and a old ls1 head. first find out how much piston to valve clearance you have to begin with and look up how much piston to valve clearance is safe. then you flycut the piston until you have enough piston to valve clearance but do not cut more than 90 thousandths into the piston or else the piston will not have enough material on it to be safe. pm and ill go into more detail.

That sounds complicated
What if I allready have the heads on the engine. I have a 98 with 98 cnc heads shaved 030. I want to get the biggest cam available to produce max HP. I drive it about once a month, so thats it.

Taking the heads off is not a big deal. I can have them off in a couple hours. I have a stripped spark plug hole anyway, so that gives me a chance to fix it.
If you have a suggestion, please let me know. I am just playing around with cam ideas right now.

Working on that, but they are sticking to cams that dont need flycutting because I cant do that myself. If I could get it done, that would help in the specing of a cam. If you can do it, I can suggest it to FMS and TSP and Thunder to get a cam speced
Thanks

I cut mine ~.085".. I run the X3 cam and Dart 205s milled to a 59cc with .040" gasket.
I talked with LGM and thats what they recommended. They do it all the time with the AFR's, they have the same valve size as the Darts. So, its the same.
I did it myself in the car as well. I rented the cutting tool from LGM and knocked it out in a day and was good to go.

OK that is not what I meant. I want to put a cam in that will net the most RWHP and TQ. Seems to me that people running the MS3 and MS4 are running huge numbers on just the cam. If I can fit one in my car with the mods I have I would think the hp would be up there.

My 233/239 is a little sluggish down low with 3.42's, an MS3 is a little bigger than mine and an MS4 is even bigger than that. Just something to think about.
