Default switched turbo's now more boost?

i had a s475 and i would see about 10psi, i switched to a smaller s465 and it saw about 10psi also. drove it for about 20 miles then i gave it about 60% throttle and it jumped to 14psi... should i put a smaller spring in the wastegate? i was talking to a guy that knows his turbo stuff locally and he said a boost controller wouldnt help my problem, he says my wastegate might be too small? the whole kit is from kbracing.

what you guys think i should do? i really dont want to buy another wastegate

I'm willing to bet you were in a higher gear at low rpms. That being the case, your engine isn't spinning that fast requiring a x amount of air causing it to create more pressure. I have mine set to 10 for just driving around and if I'm in third at 2500 and get into it, it will go 12 - 15 psi at first then fall back as rpms rise.

Wastegate is too small or you have a leak in your signal line or something. It doesn't matter where in the rpm range you see boost, your wastegate should bleed it off.

Where are you referencing the wastegate from? Maybe your wastegate is taking longer to see boost than the engine is. Did you change anything else when you switched turbo's? Could the wastegate be sticking a little. Do you try to boost it again? Maybe it was a one time deal.

So about half throttle and see if it goes to 14psi then comes back down to 10-11
