The smoke comes pretty easy with 4:10 gears and the stall converter lol. Good luck on your build!

Not much of an update, just been trying to put some miles on the car. Have been getting 02 sensor codes P0135 and P0155 on and off not sure whats going on there, hoping to troubleshoot next week using this handy guide I found

http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/gm/...sor_test_1.php

Also trying to get a couple tranny leaks buttoned up before the 29th, looking to run it over to my local 1/8th mile track and see how this NA 5.3 stacks up against the old 355.

Still working on the O2 sensor codes, but had a chance to take it to the 1/8th mile track and make a couple passes. Wasn't quite as fast as I would've hoped but it was pretty consistent. Times varied from 8.78-8.97 @ 79-80mph. The lower 1st gear actually hurt me cause with the 4.10's I couldn't hook my Nitto's up anymore, the 60ft's were 2.05-2.18. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the swap and just look forward to putting some miles on it now that it's finally on the road.

thanks man

After spending some more time reviewing the logs from the track I found the intake air temp was 130 degrees! I'm still running a stockish tune so it was pulling 5 degrees of timing at the starting line and 3 at the stripe. I'm guessing there is at least a .1 laying there with those kind of temps. No point in redoing my intake setup right now as it's all going to change with the turbo anyways but I'm considering building an intake/filter setup that sources it's air right from a removed headlight housing to feed the turbo. Any thoughts/feedback on this idea?

Small little update. Got the windows tinted, I think it really helped the look of the car.

Also starting to acquire some more turbo goodies!

Keep up the good work bro. Can't wait to see the finished turboed product and yes the tint makes it look more menacing.

Personally...just me brother since you asked...I hate when the '70 Chevelles lose a headlight for any reason...lol. To me it is the most desirable year and the black eye isn't my thing. Bolt your turbo on, get it tuned and if you really think it is the end all to lower your IAT's...well then it's a good call.

You're build has been very helpful for me through this whole process and probably will be going forward as well. I agree that if you have a build thread it should be in your sig, just easier to find and follow that way!

I agree I really love the dual headlights, that's why I have been going back and forth on this idea for a while. Will probably figure something else out so I can leave the headlights alone.

Not really much of an update, haven't done much with the car lately because I have been busy rebuilding my wife's sled motor and going riding now that we have some snow. Did pick up some more turbo related stuff and some gauges though.

Now just trying to plan the fuel system to support the turbo and figure out when my welding buddy is gonna have time to fabricate my hotside, seeing as he has a project of his own, pic below. He's calling it a ratrod but is pretty far from in my opinion lol.

I was playing around on my phone the other day and found out I could take a still shot from my videos so made a couple of those, here's the best one.

Great project.

I had a charcoal gray 70 SS454 car for many years. I wish I still had it.

Have you worked out where the turbo will sit yet?

Haven't got an exact placement but planning on something similar to this.

Here's a link to the build thread I stole the photo from https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...-thread-2.html
It's a very cool build that has given me quite a few ideas for my own.
