70 Chevelle Restomod LQ4 w/S475 and 4L80E, Vids start pg 10, dyno results
So it's about time I get a build thread going to document this swap I have started. I like many others have spent countless hours reading other members build threads taking notes, getting ideas, and trying to plan this thing out the best I can. I have great appreciation for the very helpful and amazingly capable people on this forum. Hopefully I can add some more useful info for other future conversion folks. On with the build and the pics!

I have pretty much everything and have already started just need to get the build thread caught up. I have Turbonetics T76 sitting on my shelf and am looking to make 550-600 rwhp.

I picked up a 2003 5.3 LM7 with 4wd 4l60e back in June '10 when I couldn't find a 6.0 within 500 miles. Low and behold a 6.0 popped up 4 months later so I bought it too lol Below is a pic from when I picked up the 2001 100k mile LQ4. I got the complete motor, 4l80e tranny, wiring harness, pcm, and everything else I could get my hands on.
A couple tear down pics of the 6.0, the plan was to tear it down replace gaskets and bearings as necessary, switch to the newer floating pin rods and pistons then balance the setup. Also throw some ARP hardware in the block while it was apart. After finding rust in a couple of the cylinders this plan dissolved quickly.
So I decided to hold off on the swap until I had a majority of the parts and more than a 1 car garage to work in.
A year and a half later after building a house and acquiring a bunch of parts It is finally time to get started. Plans for the car changed a little because the sbc wasn't removed until this February, I should have been working on it all along but my family goes snowmobiling almost every weekend during the winter so extra time was short. Now that summer is almost here I have decided to get it going NA with the 5.3 for the time being so I can have it running for this summer and then will turbo it and hopefully swap to the 6.0 this fall/winter.

Headed to see a guy about a '71 Chevelle at lunch. Might post a pic and see what your thoughts are...and no, I don't need another project...but

Got your back Agent. Don't no where I am going to put the Chevelle. Guy was a no-show at lunch, so headed there now. May leave it on post behind the fenced compound where they keep the rv's and boats.

Some more progress pics of the car, pulling the 355 and tranny also removed the grill/headlight bezels. The paint on the grill was flaking so time to clean up and repaint.
A couple hours later and here is what I was left with.

The parts shelf starting to accumulate quite a bit lol
The 5.3 waiting for a few more parts before it finds its new home
Picked up a set of the energy suspension mounts
Installed the Shiftworks overdrive ratchet detent for the 60E
Not swap related but prepping the grill for new paint and got a new rearview mirror.

I had the chance to run my 5.3 on an engine dyno and here are the details. The only modifications made were a 2002+ LS6 Cam, comp 918 springs and hardened pushrods. Some other parts I am running that aren’t factory for this motor are the pcm, harness and cable driven throttlebody from a 2001 žton 6.0 Silverado. I reflashed the pcm with a 5.3 calibration via EFILive. No performance gain here that’s just what I had and what will work better for my application. It fired right up and idled smoothly.....what a relief. On the first pull it made 370hp and 365 ft/lbs of torque, I was quite surprised and pleased with this figure knowing I hadn't even modified the base tune yet. After some mild changes the final numbers were 395hp and 380ft/lbs of torque. These figures are pretty close to what the sbc 355 that was in the car most recently made so I’m hoping it can replicate the previous track #’s, should be close anyways.
