Exclamation '68 Lemans Turbo build

This is my first build thread and I am still in the midst of gathering parts. I will tell you a bit about myself and the car. You can call me Kaine and I am stationed at Shaw AFB. I bought this '68 when I first came back from the Middle East in '03. Bought it from a guy in Atlanta for $1400. Had the original poncho removed (hole in the block) and paid to have a sbc\th350 installed. Drove it around for a while but my other projects forced it to take a back seat. Now that I am stuck here in Sumter, SC, the car now has my undivided attention.
I am barely mechanically inclined (build the heck out of a gaming pc though...lol) and hope to change that with this build to include my welding skills or lack thereof. This thread may drag out for quite a while simply because I have a family and a 6' 8" son who demands more of my time than my 7 year old daughter. I am frugal so I gathered what parts I could, prior to the build and figured I would gather as I went along.
If I bought parts from you or you were helpful in some way...expect to see your name in my thread. That's just the way I do it. Its always important to post a mission statement or what I want for the car; It will be single or dual turbo-charged daily driver. Not too worried about dyno numbers but I do want everything it makes to be usable. I think just about everyone here knows more than I do, and I am eager for the information.

The old engine removed. Might sell it to a friend on post with an '85 C10

Not sure what I am going to do about these welded in truck mounts. seems they are not far enough "up" on the frame so the engine won't line up with the bolt holes on either side.

The soon to be abused 240k mile 5.3

These are some of the parts I have thus far. I have a pcm and wire harness as well, but am debating going with PSI.

Box of C5 front accessory parts, minus the a/c. May go vintage air for that.

C5 regulator/filter and necessary attachements

Cleaning up the valve covers before I paint them, as well as the truck throttle body (missing the iacv, just have the map sensor)

Paid $200 for all:Trail Blazer SS truck intake, 5.3 truck intake with injectors and coil pack and LS6 intake with fuel rail and injectors.

LS2 springs, locks and retainers to keep the boost in check

More pics of the car:

Interior is not too rough, but I am sure it will change when I lift the carpet to bully the trans tunnel

Debated hacking up the C5 for parts, but calmer minds prevailed...lol

More parts:

TrailBlazer SS cover (Wonder if there is some ingenious way of mounting it to my LS6 intake) Goldrush98 donated his old F-body manifolds for my turbo build and threw in what I believe to be is a p\s cooler.

Nice build. Something different than the usual. I would sale that corvette and put all that money into the lemans. No kidding. I sold my Z06 when I purchased my Chevelle. That lemans with a set of Pt62/62's will eat that vette alive, get the same gas mileage but have way more of a cool factor. Put a 480LE in it and some streetable gears and I guarantee you will get way more looks, have no car payment, and better yet, way cheaper insurance. You could have it done in just a few months. Ride those crotch rockets in the mean time to full fil your need for adrenaline.

Wicked, I can't sell the Vette just yet. I have only had it a few months and it is starting to grow on me (Got it for a steal, same amount I paid for a used Hayabusa). As for the crotch rockets, they have lost their flair (blame this back water town vibe) so two of them are going up for sale...Not the Hayabusa's though. Are PT62's good for a 5.3? Hmmm, will have to look into that. I was just going to go with a T76 for now. Since this is a literal budget build (have an '05 Ram 3500, I am modding as well) the 4l60e will have to hold its own.

Nice color 69, but not for me. Now if you want to give me the paint code for the Lotus then I may have found my color!...lol. Really not sure what color to go with. Maybe the same Orange the Judge was. Where did you source your front valance or is that the original? I can't find one for the life of me...unless its fiberglass.

Bought some Engery suspension engine mounts and a Bosch 044 pump, will post pics later. Actually going to try and test fit the engine in the car...once I get a leveler.

Sweet project Kaine! I look forward to getting my C4 swap done (or sold...) so I can get back to my Buick!

Have you read through Project GatTaGo's thread?
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ion-2-0-a.html

It should give you inspiration. I met the Andrew in person when I sold him the L92 he has in there now. Very knowledgible and friendly guy. I'm sure he would help with any questions you come up with. Not sure what he did mount wise, but I know he had a BBC in there before the L92, so he might have done away w the BOP mounts a while back.

Thanks Subtle, I have spoken with Drew in the past and he has been very helpful. Hence why I went with the Energy Suspension mounts. We will see what happens over the next month. I haven't even found a transmisison or tc yet, but hey, it all takes time right?

Ok got a few more things in and went crazy with self etching primer, adhesion enhancer, and black and orange paint:

Got my transmission...

So I threw some paint on it...

Cleaned up the new driveshaft I got as well.

Painted the LS6 intake, valve covers, engine and test fitted the fuel rails
