I've heard great things about the c5r chain. I have a double chain, but if I were to ever go back in I'd swap it for a c5r however I'm not pushing as much power as you are anticipating.

I have read the same about the CR5 chain but also many use the ls2 chain. I guess the chain is the weakest point and the GM gears are gears are strong? The builder said all the use is the ls2 setup being its a tight fit and no tensioners are needed just want to put something in there that will hold up!

The C5R chain is a good one from Katech. That's what I would run if you want to go single.

I personally don't like the LS2 chain. I had one with a pretty aggressive heads and cam motor. 15-18k miles later it had a LOT of slop in it. Chain and all was new when installed. I would not use one on a high $$$ motor. Many use it because it's cheap and can reuse stock gears.

Good luck finding a Cloyes IRL chain. Best single LS chain ever made. They have not made them in years now. I was lucky enough to find one that had been sitting on a shelf for years and is what I have installed in a new motor. I wanted a single chain.

Sorry IRL is what i meant i read scoggy had some awhile back but i will probably do the
C5r chain if i cant get one. Did the C5R chain fit well without any slack and did it require any dampeners?

I may take the leap and do a double roller set what are the nice billet sets i should use with a strong chain? I did see comp cams has a cover that is made to fit the double chain and hp/hv pump with not grinding which i will probably use!
