Default Heads L92 vs LSA

I have an L92 long block that I plan to turbo. Would it be worth it to get a set of LSA heads? I heard they might not lift as easy as the L92s. Anybody done this? I work for a dealer so I can get the bare heads cheap. Any help would be great. Power goals are 800whp through a 6 speed.

I've looked into these heads. People love the LSA heads but not sure if they use them for turbo builds I'm sure someone has. The castings are a little nicer than th l92 castings from what I hear. Try and search the forums I'm sure some info will help you out for sure!

The L92 and LSA heads have the same deck thickness. I've confirmed it with Richard @ WCCH. Here's what he had to say when I asked him if the LSA heads had a thicker deck than the L92/LS3 heads...

I recieve this question alot. The short answer is no. The LSA heads do not have a thicker deck area than the LS3's. The LS9 heads however do. Both the LSA and LS9 share the same port and chamber cores. They are both also alloyed with a harder grade of aluminum. The LS9 heads have a large diameter and .100" taller head bolt pad. The large diameter is to accomodate the 12mm fasteners. The LSA heads retaine the factory 11mm head bolt setup. The LS9 head castings cost a bit more than double the cost of the LSA heads.

You and I have similar builds in which we both have L92 blocks that will be boosted. Personally, I'll be sticking with the L92 heads until I have enough money to buy the LS9 heads. Just my .02

Thanks a lot guys. Think I'll just stick with the L92s and use some ARP studs

I believe the LSA heads will transfer heat better since they are different alloy as the L92's. Makes sense, since the LSA uses a roots style blower and heat soak is a factor on those type setups. This is purely based off of what I've read though.

The LSA, and LS9 heads are roto cast which produces a much stronger part than conventional casting. They also use a higher grade alumnium than the L92 heads. Do a search here and you will find a ton of info. The LSA head castings can be bought new for 320.00 a pair quite the deal...

Yes they use the same rockers and stands as the L92 heads.

Head material in this case being the same deck thickness will work for the better as it will not want to shift or flex as much when cylinder pressure rises.

I haven't messed with many L92 heads but I have a #5364's here on the porting table that appears just as thick as the 317 next to it. A few months ago I looked at a #823 that seemed thin...
